PSX DESR-xxxx Update Discs

The four update discs for the DVR-PS2 combo, maybe some of you want them...

i'll download them, eventhough i dont have a psx, just wanna look around at the files...

thse discs seem to have a generic ps2 layout, and also use PAK files like the ps2 utility-disc's maybe that could lead to something......

 

The dummy file (identical on all 4 discs) is interesting

 

it seems the pak files contain unencrypted small-scripts "amx", the ps-bbn used encrypted ones "bnx"...
but their still compiled...

dumb question but has anyone with a jpn v10 PS2 with official HDD tried installing these?
some have said the PSX is based on a v10 so ide think that would be a place to start

if we could get these installed on a normal PS2 then hacking the XMB for PS2 to run homebrew would be possible

 

these discs are useless if you dont have the "PSX-OS" already installed, as far as i know.
and these discs also check, according to the screenshot above, if the console is a PSX.

also you never said it was error out or what the screen shots contained just that you were testing it on the emulator
not many here know Japanese xD

humm then makes you wonder how the hell they get the PSX-os installed in the first place?
maybe mass disk image and just boom copy it for every shipping machine

upgrade disc need call PS2 mode to do upgrade step..
but no OS PSX it can not switch to ps2 mode....
so no idea how they make first OS in PSX.

is that a naked PSX? any change you would create a new thread with more detailed pics of the PSX with its top off?
ive always wondered how they attached the tv tunner to the PS2 and theorized it was through the expansion port

 

Its one big motherboard, with multiple ribbon cables coming from all the edges. the tv tuner is its own board that connects through some ribbon cables, each laser (theres 2 in the PSX, one is a regular ps2 laser and interchangeable) also connects to the motherboard independent of each other. I can probably take a picture sometime later this week. I think some models have different motherboards; mines the DESR-5000.
