http://www.ebay.com/itm/SONY-PSX-Pl...1146450601?pt=Video_Games&hash=item27d91f96a9 Only $130? There is just a small defect that it cant read certain discs, but for $130 that is a steal compared to $300+ for the other ones.
I got scammed recently with one of these, it was cheap and didn't read some discs, the postage said it'd be £30 but after the auction that figure changed to £150, buyer beware here.
130 isn't that cheap, I'm in Tokyo and see fully working units for less than $100 every day. faulty ones fetch $20-30 tops. Shipping will be expensive tho as they weigh a ton!
I'd really like one and I got a bargain on the one i bid for on eBay but the seller stealth changed the shipping afterwards with no mention in the listing, I would have been happy to pay surface mail... I'm pretty good at waiting.
Hey just letting you know that these units will SOON be quite serviceable. Even the faulty ones which don't read discs !
Tooting your own and SP193 horns on that before release good work you to plus any hidden people as well that helped
All I care is that my unit is now working as I wanted it to and a lot of people will be able to use it too when SP193 release the new FMCB. But you know the one who did all the work was SP193. I just provided information here or there and gave my personal opinion about some things. Not really that big of a deal.
Am I correct that the new one that is out now at the SCENE works with it already or not 1.93 FMCB HDBOOT
To be precise: it helps those with a busted KWS laser. It's a pity that the HDD unit is still doomed to die together with the console though. :/ If you're referring to those SCPH-90000 series units with boot ROM v2.30, it's because they no longer check the memory cards for updates. Now, it's just a matter of starting up the FMCB installer on the PSX itself, with Swapmagic. There's currently no way to perform cross-platform installations (With either a retail PS2 or PSX unit). PS3MCA will probably be an alternative installer, with some work. But it won't install the update file into the right place as of right now. FMCB v1.93 has fixed and completed support for the PSX. Why? I'm curious to know why you would say that.
Swapmagic doesn't work with the PSX due to PARANOID/NEUROTIC/IDIOTIC copy protection features it has on it's disc.
It does (For at least the DVD). Support for the PSX within FMCB is proof that it does, since there was previously no other way of running homebrew software on it. The initial experiments were done via PS2Link, which was launched from Swapmagic. I'm sure that other people here will be able to testify that it works, since some have dumped the ROM chips of this console. Even if nobody can do that, there's no other way to explain how I got stuff running on the PSX before FMCB and the Magicgate stuff got sorted out. I cannot comment on whether the CD-ROM Swapmagic disc works, since my own copy has problems getting read by retail PlayStation 2 consoles.
I bought 3 broken PSX units from that guy on ebay for $32US and $62US for shipping(all together). A 5000, 5700 and 7000. the 7000 would not power on but would beep when eject was pressed(2 swollen caps on power supply), so I took the power supply from the 5700(which just blinked green red when plugged in), and fixed the 7000(still no cd/dvd). In doing so, being that this was my first time taking them apart, i completely broke the 2 small circuit boards that turn on, eject and quit game. The 5700 came with no hdd so I assume that is why it was blinking, but now I can't know because i have no way of turning it on anymore. Does anyone here have those parts for sale?
Pretty sure that's allowed, but the seller/buyer gets no coverage from ebay's protection on the add ons.
Blink red/green on power on mean it failed on the primary power on self test. Check if the two boards with IR sensors are connected correctly and if they have power (blown fuses) as the unit do check if both the front and top IR sensors are ok before it checks the HDD. The IR sensors being disconnected is one of the things that may cause the blinking led behavior. Edit: The top lid IR sensor is connected to the HDD conector board so if that's missing, you won't have means to power the unit up...
