With expensive next gen games, which Sony would rather have you buy. It's not so much bad design, it's that their heart isn't really in it. PSX games are not going to be much of a selling point for most people, and Sony need to push PS3 games and get more out of the door. It's an issue for us, but we are a minority in whats become an ever more casual industry. A few hundred retro fans aren't going to be given more than the the millions that want whatever is newest and shiniest.
I'm pretty sure the last update did most of that and also isn't there a such a unit that you mentioned?
Read his post again It is but it's not accessable via the PS3 button. You have to back out of the game and go into the system's settings menu. It sucks it's not quickly accessable but it's not a huge downer since Ps2 was like this regarding ps1 games (for turning on fast CD or filtering). Yet I can understand the complaint since you can access other things like memory card slots, controller mode/port, and others while still in the game.
I kinda agree with you. But it was Sony on the first place that the damn thing would have 100% BC with PS1 and PS2. This is the difference between Sony and MS. MS never said it would have a great BC, since the 360 has a different video chip. Still, they managed to get some games working, and that's ok. Sony on the other hand criticized and even made fun of MS because of that. And with the PS3 having a PS2 inside, they still can't make a decent PS2 / PS2 BC. That's why people hate Sony. Because their attitude, their arrogance... and in the end they just show how idiots they are. The only thing people expect from PS3 are MGS4, FFXIII, GT5 and maybe Warhawk 2. Everything else is also avaiable on the less expensive Xbox360.
Show me a console company that isn't arrogant and full of BS. People hate Sony because the 'net tells them to and because they have fallen from top spot. Every single one of the PR guys have made outlandish claims or arrogant remarks concerning their company or the competition. It's the way PR works.
Anyway... Are the software emulation PS3's circulating in America yet? I can't imagine they are going to keep both hardware sets going for much longer.
As far as anybody knows, no they are not. I belive the only emulated games are just the PS1 downloads though PSN.
The guy I spoke to in Gamespot told me that the new edition is due in a few months. He was desperately trying to sell me a used PS3 (a mere snip at $499!), but it turned into a long debate about the current next gen line up. And I only went in there to buy a Component switch box (which turned out to be a load of rubbish).
