it was announced months ago.... so far any news? it might be something interesting enough to make me buy a psp....
I think sony just lied so people would pay more attention to the system. I don't think we will ever see that come out. Just like support for the HD on the ps2.
I think Sony has tied its hands up with the PS3 at the moment You'll probably see Gran Turismo for the PSP before the PSX emulator
When I saw this topic, I thought he was talking about the homebrew PSX emu. Sony said Nov this year, but since there hasn't been ANY news since E3, I wouldn't bet on it. Between the PS3 and declining psp sales, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see it till 07, if ever.
Sony recently anounced it will be showing off some connectivity between the PSP & PS3. It's long been felt / rumored / leaked that the ps1 games for psp wont come till novemberish. Sony's connect network for dl would not be up till after the arival of ps3. Ridge Racerrrrrrr should be out before december. I would not be suprised if maybe they offer ridge racer as a freebe or cheap to get people to upgrade firmware and try their store out.
IMHO they should release it before christmas for selling at least some units... the emu could a at leas make them earm some money on psp hardware... if they don't they'll 100% skip the christmas period in europe.
With that port of parapa for psp, sony might be trying to port some ps1 games and slap on a little new gameplay. So dont be shocked if you start seeing some ps1 games on psp in the future that are umd only
On a side note, compressed PS1 games will be listed as available to download for purchase through the PlayStation Store but will initially not be playable on PS3 -- instead, these PS1 games will be able to be saved to your Memory Stick and run on your PlayStation Portable. (And yes, this seems to be the long-awaited PSP download service ... SCE just needed its new console to make it happen) http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/740/740601p5.html
So basically you need a ps3 then, hmm what a swizz. Im guessing they did that to try to make more people go for ps3. Who in their right mind is going to want to shell out that kind of cash to get ps1 games on their psp. Once the hackers get their hands on a compressed game file i can bet they will crack it so you can compile your own ps1 games.
New reports are that. 1) You don't need a ps3 to download ps1 games. 2) Prices will range from $10 and less with most being around the $5 mark.
if ps3 can run compressed ps1 images at some point, ->exploit? =) 5-10 is a very decent price considering the large and varied PS1 library. I hope less than stelar and not so known titles make it too. Heart of Darkness was a nice game at the time..
Actualy sony also anounced that sometime early next year they plan to let you play your purchased ps1 games on the ps3. So that makes the $5-$10 even more sweet. I hope it allows for transfer of saves back and forth for ps1 games (start a MGS1 game, save, transfer to psp and play on metro & lunch break, return home, transver back to ps3, continue game)
No, the CD media is only playable in its native form on the Ps3. Based on what I have read though, I m not clear if the Ps1 hardware is actually present (as it was , doing I/O in the Ps2) or Cell is handling some sort of emulation - but the best way to stay true is to include the original setup really. Compressed games that you buy from the online store will be saved on the HDD, and only those will be transferable on your (since i don't own one) PSP.
No. They have said that you will be able to play them eventualy on the ps3. I will go try digging up the info. --edit-- Sorry I see you mean a person asking if youc an store your ps1 games. Yeah I dont see that happening. Here is proof tho you can play ur ps1 dl games on the ps3 eventualy. --edit-- Here you go http://psp.ign.com/articles/740/740691p1.html The answer to that is surprisingly easy: The PSP can get its games from PlayStation Store debuting on PS3 this November. Instead of building a separate network specifically for PSP or trying to connect PSP up to Sony Corporation's Connect service (both of which were previously assumed prior to SCE's announcement that the PlayStation Store would be ready for the PS3 launch), Sony Computer Entertainment has simplified the process by working inside the PlayStation family. Log onto the PlayStation Store, find your games, buy them, download them, and enjoy them. The PS1 games you buy on the system will be playable both on your PSP and eventually on your PS3 console -- the same compacted file runs on both machines with the right emulation.
