Theres rumors that theres 2 new PSPs for this sprint: one will have an HDD and another, cheaper one will have a large amount of NAND memory. The first will go for a little more than $199, while the other one will be less than that. If you ask me, I say wait for these new versions...
Src == some analist saying another psp is comming. Same with new rumor, it comes from some market or industry analist.
Dunno, it kinda makes sense since they delayed the PSX emu again, maybe becos they want this PSP/iPod to be already in the shelves. BTW, maybe they are planning to re-release every single PSX game, which is kinda bad becos that means we wont see any "new" games soon. Anyway, heres the link to kotaku
if they release new PSPs , i ll definately get one of the old ones for a fraction of the price that they sell them now for - i don't need a multimedia platform, i own an Ipod with a black and white screen, and i like the fact that it plays just music. I could care less for playing videos etc since i m a damn busy person and "videogames" is the entertainment of my choice on the go, not movies.
Since when have they delayed the ps1 emu? There was never an official release date. It was always tied up to the launch of sony's online store which was always exspected around the launch of ps3. Also I don't get how you think sony planning to rerelease every ps1 game keeps them from doing new games. Most of it is just going to be emulation or an intermediate library (thies games can't be psp rebuilds or they wont be compatible on the ps3). Sony will end up farming most of the work to some studio they hire/buyout to do it. Not like they're going to stop all 1st party game development and also 3rd party so they can release a bunch of ps1 games. Nothing personal but sometimes this forums is really uninformed regarding the psp. :noooo:
There was a rumor about that, like the PSP ver.2 I said before... What games? Just j/k, but seriously, if you take a look at the iTMS charts you'll see some of the most downloaded songs are old ones. Seeing the weak (to say the least) catalog of the PSP, old PSX titles may be kinda good for most people (specially the brats who were too young to get the PSX). A PSP with internal memory is just the first "on-demand" console, much like the iPod+iTMS was the first on demand music player-service.
Not really. Only rumor is that 3.0 firmware was supost to be posted last week but it was joystiq miss reading a rumor stating sony would anounce last week the release day for the 3.0 firmware. That rumor of course did not happen. Also sony is not really behind on the ps1 emu. There is already a few prx modules in the 2.8/2.8.1 firmware in preperation for it (along with gps & camera attachment) There is no dout in my mind that being able to play ps1 games on the psp will boost the system a great deal. I actualy am looking forward to it. It still wont mean that psp games will stop being developed. Hell from the period of last week till mid november. PSP is getting alot of big name titles. Hell it makes the ds look like its on a total drout. The big names of the list of course are GTA:VCS (LCS is still the only psp game to sell over a million total in NA), Medal of Honor Heros, Ace Combat, Killzone Liberation, Luminies 2, ... (I did a large list on ign. but too bored to pull the full list up). I think people being able to replay Castelvania: SOTN, Final Fantasy 7-9, Xenogears, Metal Gear Solid, ... will totaly drive psp sales though the roof. It makes sense the rumors of an internal harddrive yet I still dont trust the rumor since I've yet to hear it come from a dev source (and I would probably hear in advance, I am a psp comercial developer).
I'm not saying that they will completely stop making new games, but a boost of sales due to the PSX games will probably dwarf the necesity to put a lot of new games in the market to only a few. BTW, you work at IGN?
No just a former mod and I post there alot (i use the handle chakoo). Kind of obvious since I am the only person with chibi snake as their icon (its a private custom icon only vips & mods can use).
Dunno, I havent being to IGN board since, well, never. Is chock-full of sony fanboys and casual idiots (no pun intended) and while theres a little group of users you can get along with, it isnt worth the pain of having to take all that crap from the rest. Anyway, peace.

For the most part you are right. DS & GBA boards tend to be filled with blind fanboys. PSP board gets bad sometimes but I usualy smack them around till they fall back in line. --edit-- Also lets not play hollier then tho here. There is alot of blind bashing that goes on here. Generaly tho I hang on the psp boards & current event boards to watch the republicans & democrats chew each other out.
