Thank you for the answer, pal. I think i'll wait for popstarter 13 first and if still not loading then go for the slim model as you pointed. I read the TTY via UDP stuff just a little after posting my question here, but krHacken said it crashes after a few seconds. If there's any improvement on this aspect, please i beg you to warn me.

EN : if I can allow myself, the “r12” allowed the installation of only one game per partition (on HDD). The “r13” is different and makes it possible to enter of multiple games only one partition or several partitions (on HDD). The “r13” is retro-compatible with the “r12”. The same principle is used for USB, only one file with multiple games. It is simpler for USB (and the FAT32). CM are in the affected file of the name of the launched game. Two CM by game launched in USB and internal HDD.

FR : Encore un peu de patience SVP, son développeur travaille énormément et tous les jours.

EN : Still a little patience PLEASE, its developer works enormously and every day.

    Regards.

Alright, I'm stuck on this new patch... again. And this is strange, cause instructions seems quite easy to me...
even some nice person sent me a prepatched elf, but nothing work (I felt like dumber&dumber with it).
I want to burn my useless phat ps2 (or my brain, better).

Thanks to MartinBiohazard for pointing me my first mistake: hex editing the EXECUTE.ELF for the free-region bios stuff.
This is not necessary with the new patch, so I ran to the PC and did this simple install try:
    1. apply the patch to a clean ELF.
    2. make the .vcd from a compatible game (top shop, star gladiator & clock tower 1)
and change the name to MYDUMP.BIN (want to try game by game first to see it work, learn to
    walk before running, bla,bla...
    3. Put those files inside a folder called POPS and this folder to 3 pendrives I have
(SanDisk 30 GB, Verbatim 4GB and a 16gb cheap one). The folder is on ROOT with nothing more,
    and FAT32 formatted.
    4. Run the ELF through ule7wip or through ps2 fmcb main screen. Both ways give me a
    system reboot.

My thoughts on with what could be going wrong:
    1. None of my pendrives are compatible. This would be the 8-ball for me at this moment.
    2. My FreeMcBoot 1.8 configuration is messed-up. So installed the 1.93 version
and now return back to the MC manager or BSOD (depends of the allocated memory used of format, wich
    lead to the next point)
    3. Wrong format. I used FAT32 like the readmes from first usb patch said, maybe I must to apply
an specific memory allocation? i left the default option and tried with 4096 bytes with no success.
This part is confusing to me cause POPS for HDD seems to need FAT16, but like I said the usb patch readme says FAT32.

    Any clue? Thanks in advance.

Is ok that I can use the Spanish language to help emuler? Since us both speak that language. :p Thanks!

    @emuler:

    Ojala tengas suerte amigo!

    @MartinBiohazard:

EN: I'm going to try the ULEs out. In case of making it work I'll edit this post for guidance to other people in same circunstances.

Guys, no need to handle with it. An official USB feature is coming to the Popstarter. Just wait a little bit more.

POPS-00001 is no longer supported by the devs and this stuff has already been hacked enough. Let it rest in peace.

I just read KrHacken post, didn't expect a new release from him this year, so perfect... I'll wait for it better, at least for
my sanity. It's only I don't like to give out easily and want to run star gladiator so much and some people posting they're
playing it right now with pops-0001 made me mad!

Please keep discussion in English. Posts in Spanish aren't helpful to those who don't speak the language. Thanks!

No, that is not the problem, thanks to the new patch made by joseri for the POPS-00001, is not necessary to have the internet cable connected.

    Ok, sorry.

Oops, that was actually my fault. I requested help to MartinBiohazard by PM and told him I was sleepy cause it was too late in my country (4 AM+-), so barely can understand my own language! That's why he asked to answer me in spanish.
Don't worry, I'll keep on english from now on. But keep in mind I'm telling all bar owners to ask you 20€ for one beer if you ever come here for Semana Santa holidays ;)

I joined this forum just to say thanks to everyone who has put the effort into making PSX playable from a USB without network attached!! I did run into some problems on the way and this is what I did and it worked for me:-

    1.Downloaded the Original POPS for PS2 which was EXECUTE.ELF 3.28 MB (3,448,848 bytes),patched it with the ppf-o-matic3.exe & pops_usb_patch.ppf (thanks to Delcro)

2.Downloaded the PSX game which was Quake 2 (which I own) in NSTC and in .bin & .cue format (you can use MagicIso to make a bin and cue and then use cuemaker2.exe to make a true PSX .cue file from the .bin file if its in a ISO or IMAGE format) Use the CUE2POPS_2_0.EXE to make a .VCD file. Then rename it to the game (MUST BE IN CAPITAL LETTERS AND ONLY 6 LETTERS LONG!!!) like QUAKE2.BIN

3.I used Hex Workshop Hex Editor (64 bit) and opened the new patched EXECUTE.ELF, then used the replace tool under EDIT and searched for MYDUMP.BIN (In TEXT format) and replaced it with QUAKE2.BIN save file but do not close down Hex Workshop, then I searched again for ps1emu and replaced with QUAKE2 this should replace the TEXT 3 times then save the EXECUTE.ELF. see image

    6huccy.jpg

    4. Rename the EXECUTE.ELF to QUAKE2.ELF you can rename it to QUAKE_2.ELF (No spaces use a _ for a space), Now make an empty folder and rename it to QUAKE2 (this is the saved games folder).

    5. Now you should have a QUAKE2.ELF an empty folder called QUAKE2 and a QUAKE2.BIN put all those files into a Folder called POPS and copy it to a formatted FAT32 USB drive. see my folders

    2u6zslf.jpg

6.Put the USB drive into the PS2 and boot using FreeMC and use uLE to 4.42a or other ELF tool to open the USB (/MASS) and then select the QUAKE_2.ELF

    7. Wait a few seconds and the game should load it worked for me,I messed up on the CAPITAL LETTERS AND ONLY 6 LETTERS LONG on the BIN file and NSTC format!!

Thanxs to all I can now play psx on usb I hope this helps someone I KNOW THIS IS A QUICK TUT !!! don't flame me as IM a NOOBIE :)

    Cheers Cozy
