LeGit im just messing with you :smt042 I would never ask you or anyone else on this forum to board a bus or train to do my dirty work :-D But would you mind if I have him mail it to you and sometime next month I will paypal you the funds needed to ship it off to me regardless of the shipping cost , my fault I just didn't figure in that the game would almost be double the price with shipping from the UK, and my payday is on the 1st so it will not be a problem. I never bid on anything if I do not have the funds to cover them but again this one caught me off guard and at the most I figured 10 USD.

I requested shipping charges from the seller well before the auction ended and they replyed with they were not sure, maybe 7 USD.
Thanks to everyone for your help. :smt042

You don't have to ask, most peeps here would possibly volunteer anyway. We're a community - all for 1 and 1 for all :smt023

Not a problem, I'll PM you my address :smt023

Bah, if you guys could send something for half that, like we can, you wouldn't think it's so funny. Sure the £ is "worth" more but in the end you're paying far more through equivalent exchange (cost of living), shipping, VAT, dirty looks.

The strength of the pound vs. the dollar has nothing to do with that. To ship a game to the UK from the US costs $5, via Airmail. $5=$20? No, no it doesn't. It's bullshit, the seller is simply screwing you.

They don't necessarily have the same shipping methods and prices. Hell, every post office in every city I've lived in has different unreasonable quotes on the same service, many times to the same approximate destination.

He may not be screwing. There are different rates the same with any service. I normally send items via Airmail small packet rate, which is reasonably cheap and if mailed on a Monday can be in the US by Friday. There are a lot of other rates - for instance there is 1st and 2nd class, aswell as recorded, registered, and various other fast/slow and insured methods. Chances are the qwuote he was given was for a recorded + insured 1st class post.

Aww, c'mon...it's eBay. The guy is looking to make a quick buck off shipping. Many sellers from the US will quote shipping to Canada for $10-$15 for a game, and they'll just send it airmail.

Ok, seeing as my last post was aparently moderated...

Try and understand that $5 does not always equal to the same amount in pounds.... I fluctuates. Right now £1 is almost $2... but a while ago £1 was equal to $1.5 so yes the stengh of the pound to the dollar does matter...

I don't think he's screwing you. Keep in mind postal services in different countries can cost wildly differt amounts. If he wants £2/$4 to send to UK then it doesn't sound disgusting to me... I'm sure it could be done slightly cheaper though.

I kind of know the guy you bought off (I actually bought my very first Famiclone in his shop about 7 or 8 years ago - Scorpion 8, he even gave me 2 'boxed' Scorpion 8 games free 'cause it was the last machine he had & saw no prospects of selling htem soon). His shop, Button Basher Games, is one of the North West's best indies... not had too much real goodies in since he discovered eBay though ;)

Right. I have a similar problem. I recently bought an item from eBay España. The seller is asking me over 20 euros for shipping a package that can't be more than 1.5 pounds in weight. I don't think I've ever paid that much for shipping even if it's straight from Japan, and this is inside mainland Europe! (note: I live in Finland)

So are there any Spaniards on these forums that could verify this for me?

EDIT: No matter, I found it myself. Seems he was almost on the money. Wow, I'm still surprised how expensive it can be. Spanish mail sucks! :smt042

Thanks everyone for the great feedback, here is an "UDATE"
Well the shipping cost came in over 21.00 USD, ( I could have bought this game without the ram card that ( I do not need anyways ) for 18.00 USD out of Japan with 6.00 USD shipping to the US. I went ahead and got it with the cart because if I sell it down the road it will be complete and ready to go.

I sure hope this is a good game :smt042

But that aside I went ahead and honored the contract ( as I should because I won the auction ) and sent her the money through paypay and now all contact from her has stopped. :-(
