REAL MUSIC ???? And what is Real Music? I'm now listening to the Maximum Tune 3 OST original CD but I guess this is not real music since it's taken from an arcade game although some very talented guys have worked their arses off producing it.

There's no such thing as real music (there is total shite music though) unless you mean it must have acoustic instruments to class as real music.

You have to understand that people have different tastes. I could say that any one who buys Rap is an idiot because I find 90% of it to be total and utter shit. That's just my opinion though so I can't really call people idiots for buying what they like even if I don't agree.

I guess I'm just being an ass. I'd just rather not pay out the butt for some game music when I could buy games or other music or pay bills with it. Is game music just as expensive in other parts of the world? i'm guessing the prices suck because there not printed as much.

most of the japanese osts retail for 2500-3000 yen average (on launch). thats exactly the same price as most "normal" albums. I don't know how the situation is in the US.

Here in Europe soundtracks are kind of rare, and I only buy imports anyway ;-)

God, if I ever saw an ever anime boot around here, I would buy it on the spot. Since I have a sweet spot for quality made bootlegs. No wonder why I have a few bootlegs of different artists....

    "You're".

I've paid up to around UK £40 for some Japanese imports, and that's for single disc releases. They do indeed go for silly prices. I myself prefer to own originals, but at the prices I've seen I can understand why people settle for bootlegs or downloads.

I used to work for HMV many moons ago, and I recall we used to have a sign up in the stock room for calculating import copy prices.

    It essentially said:

    $8.99 = £8.99
    $10.99 = £10.99
    $14.99 = £14.99

As for the downloading vs. owning debate - I feel that if you enjoy thye music and can purchase the genuine album - still in print - from somewhere, then you are wrong to get bootlegs or download it for permanent intentions. If, however, the option is bootleg or used copy then the artist will not see the revenue from it. Thus: go nuts.

I still reserve the right to impale any imbecile who believes it's their god-given right to pirate music because they can on a big pointy stick.

WM:MT3 OST ftw. I love that game; at least 50% of my love for it is directed to the trance pumping out of the seat-mounted speakers located about 3 inches away from my ears. Mmmm...

/runs off to the nearest arcade

P.S. Not all rap is bad btw. There's still a lot of intelligence and cutting wit amongst all the Fiddy Cent gangsta crap. Check out Sage Francis.
