I just don't understand why he let himself get caught. If I had that info/hardware, I wouldn't go blabbing it everywhere.

If you read the story in the Gizmondo link you'll read all about what a little shit this guy actually is. It wouldn't bother me at all if he was put away for years. He's been trouble for many.

 

I've seen his twitter. he's an Immature ass. Which makes me think he was a pathological liar too.
How I put that together I have no idea just, something I guess.

 

That article shaded some light on the subject actually. About 75% of that story I knew, however after knowing he screwed over other companies (in his words "I have other offenses") now make everything clear to me. I had many conversations with him, and he was alright. Many times he'd tell me what he's done, but it was nothing serious from that article. The person I feel sorry for most here is, his girlfriend and from what he's told me, she /many/ times said to change. Myself even said not to go to far with it, but since he's got years of bad history I doubt his got anyway out of this.

Many times he said Microsoft was a stupid company, however, they are a powerful company - leaking information about specs or what ever is normal but tech documents isn't cool.

Since he has no money I have no idea how he'd even fight the companies, he was quite rich to begin with. I honestly don't know why, why he ruined his own life for. He was so lucky to work with Microsoft, Sony, Valve, Epic Games and so on. I'd do anything to work for any of those companies.

If you're reading this DaE, all I can say is good luck you're going to fucking need it.

The most depressing thing is that he could have made all this go away if he'd played nice with Microsoft, or shut his big mouth. I don't know him as well as some of the other people on this thread, but listing a Durango dev system twice, and sending documents to Kotaku are definitely ways to get noticed by Microsoft.

Also, couldn't Microsoft extradite him on theft charges, because, based on previous stories I've heard about dev systems, they're usually leased by the manufacturer to the developers, meaning that, however he acquired the kit, it's technically stolen, whether it came from a developer directly or through other means. Looking through the extradition treaty between Australia and the US, there are multiple charges he could be extradited on based on the Durango alone (not including whatever he has on those hard drives): Robbery, Larceny, "Obtaining any property, money or valuable securities by false pretences or other form of deception.", " Receiving any property, money or valuable securities knowing the same to have been unlawfully obtained.", with other possible charges too.

Frankly, this is a situation that he could have easily avoided, and I think there's a line that he certainly crossed, especially if he hacked into Valve, Epic, Sony and others beforehand.
