  1. Wasn't the horizontal one also released on the FM-Towns systems?

Macross game? No, I don't think so.

Two of the arcade Macross games aren't bad. One of them (Macross 2 I think) is really bad. You have like timer and have to get through the stages in that time, or get that many points, or something. It's very much like a score/time attack, but that's the main game. Blech. The first one isn't too bad, and then there's Macross Plus... a vertical shooter. Pretty good, but sound doesn't work in MAME, so to really enjoy it you need to spend about $150 for the PCB. Had it for a while but sold it. I can't play anything right now with a hitbox more than 4x4 pixels. :D

Macross Plus does have sound in MAME. The older Macross game, however, does not.

I seem to recall it was.
And by the way, is Raiden Project worth that much? I fished it out of the bargain bin in Ichikawa for 400 yen... and the employees consequently laughed at me in the face when I wanted to pay for it with my creditcard :smt071 :smt1062

  5. Raiden Project on FM Towns?

I was playing R-Type the other day, and I got hit by a bullet that grazed the rear end of my ship. I was like, 'what the hell, the hitbox was still half the ship away!'

I never got used to "centered" hitboxes, I keep trying to dodge bullets with the whole ship.
It actually confuses me and makes me die more often.
    Go figure.

I forgot the yen/dollar conversion rate, but that seems like a steal. The American copy goes for around $40-60, while the Japanese copy demands slightly smaller prices.

No, Raiden Project on PS. I was kinda replying to a post on the previous page but forgot to quote the actual text. Anyhow, the actual transaction went like this:

<me walks into Bookk store in Ichikawa>
    <me notices bargain bin>
<me grabs Raiden Project and SF Zero 2, both for PS, 400 yen apiece>
<me walks up to counter and finds wallet empty>
    me: Mastercard?
store guy in apron: "800 yen... mastacado... HAHAHHAHA"
store guy to other store guys: "800 mastacard... mwhahahahaha"
    3 guys wearing aprons: "hahahahahahahahaahahhahaa"

And I thought Japanese were polite people

  9. Ah, right. Checking eBay, Taemos was almost spot on with the price estimate - it does seem to go for a pretty penny.

Then again, why would you want to sell Raiden Project, now? ;)

Raiden Project (in Japan) is a bargain bin game. You should've bought more, Antipasta. :)

Speaking of which, I should've bought more 2000Y DoDonPachis and 400Y Saturn modems (I sold one of those for 75e :p)

2000 yen Dodonpachi is a bargain for either system, even though the PSX one is slightly superior.
