I was wondering which Nintendo DS games are considered as rare ones. After a quick search on Google I was surprised when I found that games like Tetris DS, Electroplankton and Digimon World DS are on the list. Expecially Electroplankton which you could buy it for 2 euros on a well-known greek retailer (Germanos). If I knew it I would buy a stock of them and sold them later on ebay. One Nintendo DS game I know it's rare is Giana Sisters DS: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=giana+sisters For those who don't know about Giana Sisters DS: http://www.destructoid.com/review-giana-sisters-ds-195342.phtml Wow! Nintendo approved a Super Mario rip-off? It's like they were thinking "Nah! No one will give a shit about this game." And man, they were right! The irony...
Infinite Space DS appears regional to me. Almost as if for reasons unknown, Sega distributed few copies to the western US states. Looking at ebay copies are usually 1000 miles or more from my location. Giana Sisters DS? Well I suspect Germany might've had the widest release. Similar to Terranigma (SNES) or Soleil (Megadrive) from what I'd seen on ebay.
Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center used to be considered "rare" due to the demand they used to have. Then reprints came out and made them about as rare as a copy of Super Mario 64DS.
Nowdays theres quite a few ds games that are hard to find especially if you want new sealed copies. I wouldn't say many are rare though as if you have the cash & have access to ebay & yahoo auctions you can get nearly any of them with not much trouble & if you just want used then it's even easier. In 5 or 6 more years we will see which are the really rare ones, stuff from the ecapcom store like the limited editions will most likely be very hard to find. For me the hardest Japanese ones to find new copies of were... Nanashi no game Dangerous Jiisan DS Ketsui Ones that im still struggling to find.... Coropata Kumatanchi Hoshizora navi Space invaders extreme 2 The thing with the ds is the library is so vast, theres well over 5000 games now for it from all the regions combined thats probably the biggest game library of any console/handheld released so far, so in there is the scope of many low print titles. In Japan theres quite a few hibaihin games released that go generally unnoticed. In years to come it's going to be fun to track this stuff down hehe, im doing pretty well so far as i have nearly every single game i have wanted so far but i keep trying roms of older interesting ones to see if its worth getting a real copy. Found so many cool purchases using that method.
Hehe i have the mister donut game, kind of fun but short lived. All the thrills of working at one but without the wages LOL I much prefer minna no conveni, working in a japanese convinience store has never been so much fun (well unless you actually have to work there for real)
Giana DS is bloody excellent, the first game I have completed (on R4 as I am not opening my sealed one!) in a good while! If you are remotely a Mario or platform fan, you have to get hold of it!
After doin some research, i found a list of games that are quite rare Heres the list Backyard Hockey Surprisingly, hockey games are almost impossible to find on the Nintendo DS. Backyard Hockey is a game that you would definitely want for your collection. Digimon World Do not confuse this game with Digimon World Dusk. Digimon World was released in 2006 and is quite rare and valuable now. DK Jungle Climber Donkey Kong games are usually high profile and quite common but this one flew under the radar and is now a very sought after game. Electroplankton Electroplankton is the most valuable game for the Nintendo DS. It was mainly sold online and at the Nintendo World store. Very few were sold through traditional retailers and that has made this game quite rare. A used copy is worth $50 – $75. Horse Life Horse Life is a simulation game where you have to feed and take care of your horse. Simulation games are very popular on the Nintendo DS and this one sells for good price on ebay. Korg DS-10 In Korg DS-10, you simulate sounds of a MS-10 synthesizer on this game. The small target audience for this game has made it quite rare and valuable. Luminous Arc 2 Role playing games are always a good investment and finding this rare game with bonus CD would be a great addition to your collection. Madden 09 I know that it seems ludicrous to put a Madden game on a rare list. Normally a Madden Football game is worth less than $10 a year after it is released. Madden 09 is out of print and there was no Madden 10 released for the DS. Madden 09 is the second most valuable Nintendo DS game to collect only behind Electroplankton. Monopoly Boggle Yahtzee Battleship This 4-in-1 game by Atari defies the normal trends of board games. Games of this nature are usually not very valuable, but this release is one of the most valuable games for the Nintendo DS. Tetris DS Tetris DS follows the footprints of Final Fantasy VII where millions were sold but the popularity of the game keeps the value high.
I know Tetris DS is rare as hell. Went to a gamestop one day, saw it for $50 used. Not worth it IMO. That was the only time I ever saw a copy in the wild.
Finding new sealed copies of games only a few years old is getting extremely hard, i tend to buy sealed as i want them in new condition so thats the best way of getting them. Oh they never stay sealed for long though i don't care how rare stuff is i open them as i want to play it. I have yet to see a Japanese download station cart, i know they exist but i haven't even seen one on yahoo auctions. It's crazy at the randomness of ds titles going out of print, literally no warning on which ones will, so nowdays i just buy them as they come out as you can gurantee that when you go look for it, there will be none in stock anywhere & the ones that are on ebay will have crazy price tags & are usually used ones. As for Tetris DS, that one is rare now because Nintendo only had the tetris liscense for one print run so they cant make anymore of it now.
WHAT? Tetris DS is Rare??? Fuck me, I saw one for 150 pesos in Blockbuster and said "Meh" and didn't get it. It's not going to be there now, for sure. Damn it to fuck.
Shit that's like 1/5 the price I saw it at. Too bad you didn't know how rare it was. If you do happen to go there and see it, pick it up, if it's still there that is.
Tetris DS had a huge print run, yet most owners held onto it. And it's also among the more widely bootlegged DS games. You want to be careful about shady sellers with this title.
Well, I have a DS Browser. I'm not sure how "rare" it is, but it was hard to find and I haven't seen one since around my area.
Yeah DS Browser is an oddly uncommon sight in the wild. It's not rare in number, nor valuable. Used copies are worth little. The DS lite and DS phat versions had separate releases with distinct cover art. Loose browser carts look identical however.
The 2nd and 3rd game are still pretty rare though. Just look at how much people are asking for them on places like amazon. Both used and New. It's ridiculous
