What is the little square directly above the Gamecube logo? I think it's a really cool item.

Thanks a lot man. This is the first item I've ever had to try and get information about, so I can't say I am very good at it, but I am trying. I will obviously be posting if I end finding any new info about it. Again, I really appreciate you even saying you would try and help.

Also to Flash, best I can do is the non re-sized picture from my HTC One. I should be able to get some decent pictures from my SO's Nikon if need be.

I believe it is the Flipper GPU, it is easier to see in the picture I just linked

Cool. Yeah, that's what I thought. Is the Gamecube itself functional, and are there any other noticeable differences from the retail hardware?

This reminds me of the original Xbox "Partner Edition" that Microsoft gave to the companies that made the hardware inside the console. Although those consoles never had a specific company name on them.

I know very little about the GameCube, but I have tackled a similar problem recently with good results.

My first step was to contact the manufacturer, which was a long and painful exercise. You may find that contacting Nintendo helps, but I've found that in many cases these these give away items/awards are only know about by a few people and finding the right person at a big company can be tough.

My next step was to try and identify who the system was given to and it was actually much easier than I thought. I knew was looking for somone on the project team at Qualcom that developed the chip for my system. I discovered that people who work on major hardware or software development projects frequently mentione thier roles in such projects on resumes. I searched LinkedIn for members of the project team and found 5 people that worked on the project. I sent email messages to all 5 people and finally found the person who was the previous owner of my system. He was freindly, told me what I wanted to know and even gave me some documentation.

If you haven't already, I suggest you contact the senior members of Flipper project team at ATI. Sorry I don't have specific information for you. Good luck.

Yeah, it's the GPU and your GC is legit. Congratulations on such rare find!

I don't think so, it's just the case. The only possibility of something different is the earlier revision of the IPL, but nothing in hardware, other than case.

How do you know it's legit? I'm not doubting you by any means but I've been searching all over for some sort of evidence.

Did you ever get any back story to your unit?
