Rare Xbox 360 "Microsoft Summer Intern Celebration 2009" Console

I just picked this console up and I can't find any real information about it. It's a retail Xbox 360 and works fine but has this legit looking "Summer Intern Celebration 2009" "Microsoft" And a picture of the space needle stamped on it.

Apparently, they gave these consoles to 600 interns at a microsoft private party during the summer of 2009. http://www.seattletimes.com/business/microsoft/microsoft-interns-get-perks-pay-play/

"The same day Microsoft reported some of its worst financial results, a dozen buses left the Redmond campus. During rush hour, they headed toward Highway 520 as a phalanx of cops on motorcycles shut down the onramps ahead, clearing the path to the Pacific Science Center.

Microsoft had rented the museum for a private party and a screening of the new “Harry Potter” movie. After the screening, about 600 attendees received a free Xbox 360 video-game console. The recipients of this VIP treatment? Microsoft’s summer interns."

You covered it all basically, interns of 2009 received these as gifts from Microsoft. I recall seeing one of these on eBay a couple months ago, perhaps this is it.

 

Thanks for the response. Really? I haven't seen any on eBay or even a picture of another one of these consoles. Im curious if exactly 600 interns received or possibly more. Because if there are only 600 of these out there that's pretty rare. It might be one of the most rare systems I own now. Does anybody else on the forum own one or have seen one??

Microsoft gives free stuff to their interns every year. It ranges from Xboxes to laptops to phones to tablets. It's more of a marketing ploy because it gets buzz out there about their new products

Seen a few of these on Ebay. There are also two slim versions, one is for a zoo and has a flamingo on it and the other simply says "Microsoft Research" in white letters. They don't go for a whole lot though, certainly not as much as the typical non-retail 360 consoles.

That's a pretty cool find.

 

While not beautiful, it's still a nice find.

Interns were forbidden from reselling these, most of the staff ones are subject to no-resale clauses.

 

I own one Id have to look back as to when I purchased it
