Ok hunting round the old www, game across this site http://www.retrogames.co.uk/ and says on there megadrive games section, that F22 Interceptor is rare got me thinkng, what in your view's is the rarest game on the MD/Genesis lets here your views
Probably something totally gay that people wipe from their minds. But i beleive the Japanese version of The Ooze is up there.
A Space harrier esque game with great scaling graphics late in the Megadrive's life. More importantly *rare* it shipped with a Cotton mug, for a further limited edition.
there was recent YJ auction where the seller sold Panorama Cotton SAMPLE cart? for me I managed to score mint one early this year - wasn't cheap though by my standard (anything over 1000-2000 yen is expensive on my book he he) by the way I thought Devine Sealing or whatever crap it's called is up there as well as Battle Mania? And on the Battle Mania I saw two different covers. What are the difference?
Battle Mania II is rare but number 1 can be found with a bit of looking. Maybe they were the two different covers you saw dj898? Devine Sealing is shit as well plus comes in a NES style card box I don't think F22 is rare at all. No EA game on PAL or US is rare. Yakumo
I can't remember the name (and the Digital Press rarity guide is down at the moment) but I seem to recall a game that involved a dingo. I think it was an exercise game. Ring a bell anyone?
I wonder, is Warcraft II on Saturn, Japanese version rare or uncommon, like a few other Western Saturn games?
Panorama Cotton can't be THAT rare, I think that atleast 5000 copies were made. Usually, The Ooze, Comix Zone, a bunch of acclaim games etc. are regarded as the rarest (japanese, licensed and released) MD games. Can't be too sure though, I haven't been able to find any sales numbers. These however, are completely shitty games that go for about 300 bucks a peice.
Depends on where you live too. For me, the rarest Genesis game was THEME PARK Good lord, it took me 2 years to track down a copy after I saw it briefly for the first time at a dept store. Mind you, this was before the days of eBay and before your mass market EB and Gamestop stores sold used games. When I finally did get a copy, I played it and was like "meh, this is boring" and felt disappointed having spent two years tracking this title.
i loved that game spent hours on hours making my park the best anyways i got a bundle of japanese games other day, most no books one thats got my intrest the most, its boxed and on the front cover it has hitler, churchill, etc from WWII tried playing it but was just randomly pressing buttons so if anyone could tell me what it is or if it was ever relased as PAL, be greatfull cheers guys
Ah, I think it's name is "World Advanced Daisenryaku". It was not released in PAL land, though it's sequel was released on the Saturn in America, as Iron Storm. However, W.A.D. is apparently getting a Sega Ages re-release on PS2.
The rarest Megadrive game is probably the official Sega version of Tetris. Never actually released, but theres three of four copies out there. The last few games Acclaim released in Japan are very rare - WWF Raw and One of the Bart Simpson games. I'd personally like Slap Fight and Pengo.
I heard that there are about 10 copies of the Mega Drive Tetris game out there. Story was that Sega's version was ready to ship but was just waiting for the license. Needless to say Nintendo got the license which saw the death of the Mega Drive version. All copies had to be destroyed Same happened to Tengen (NES version). Luckily someone hid or stole a few copies of the Mega Drive version We all now one went to the Chinese since they made the fake version. The official Sega version can still be seen in Arcades from time to time here in Japan. Yakumo
The Megadrive version of Tetris made it out on Sega's Megatech arcade system. Not sure why this didn't breach any licenses.
They split the rights to Tetris for different markets.. So Mirrorsoft got the home computer rights, Nintendo the console rights and Sega got the arcade rights.
cool cheers least i know now what to call it one further question, what does "Daisenryaku" mean in english if it does translate ?
