I'm sure everyone knows it, but an English version of Dai Senryaku just came out for the Xbox for a reasonable price of $19.99 It's already pretty hard to come by, so it may be worth snapping up if you see a copy.
Nice thread. I love the jp md like no other console (need 82 titles for the lot) Ok. I know nadda about rare genesis games. Rare pal games include Fatal Fury 2 Death and Return of Superman The Punisher Spiderman Animated Series Aero the Acrobat 2 Dizzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings Saturday Night Slam Masters World Class Soccer 2 (original release..might be world champions soccer 2 I forget) Semi rare Megaman Wily Wars Phantsasy Star 4 Alien Soldier et al Japanese MD. Tetris and Protos obviously (just won a japanese md fan club book listing all the known protos/unreleased games for jp md/cd/32x..can't wait for it to arrive) Lots of rare and expensive Acclaim titles..expect to pay $500+ for some of them. The reason many are rare is,aside from a low print run (as well as poor quality all round) 5 were releaszed on the same day! Overkill of crap, nice. Foreman for Real Virtua Bart WWF RAw Maximum Carnage Batman Forever (not the last md btw..that was Madoh Monogatari I believe) Justice League Judge Dread True Lies Rare and cheap as chips Fifa Soccer...you just never see this but when you do its like £5 Perceived as rare, but not rare, just pricey The Ooze Comix Zone Snow Bros Pengu Vampire Killer Panorama Cotton and Mug Slap Fight Battlemania 2 General Chaos Eliminate Down Phantasy Star Fukkoban (rerelease of PS1) Alien Soldier
I'm pretty sure I've seen this in Amsterdam, I'll check it out tomorrow. How much should this be worth?
Not the hugest amount I reckon sadly, compared to jp acclaim at least. Pal md is a little strange in that a lot of people don't know that a certain game is uncommon/rare so when you do see a juicy games you can often get it for £10 or less. Ebay germany used to be very good for this. That said though, sold in the right way somewhere, maybe ebay UK (!) and you could net £40-50 (tops though) especially as Death and Return never crops up really. (I think it was australian release only)
Actually, World War is "Sekaitaisen". "Daisenryaku" means "Great War Strategy". @wheela Thanks for that list of rare MD titles. Didn't realize there's quite that many Japanese Acclaim games. I wonder if it's possible to score some of these in Europe where hardly anybody knows what these pieces of crap are worth. How do you think the Go Net game would figure into this rarity chart?
Well strangely enough cart only max carnage and virtua bart have been found recently for £2-3..and then ebayed for £20 or so. A jp max carnage (complete) also sold for about £115 on ebay recently. Awesome price. As for Go Net....pretty high tbh...probably one of the hardest to find save tetris, nagoya. And champions world class soccer deserves a mention too..a bugger to find but cheap as.
They're full of shit then - I could probably grab you half a dozen copies in town for £2 tops. Common as muck. I'd say that PAL versions of Normy's Beach Babe-A-Rama and Mutant League Hockey qualify as rare - I've been trying to track down a complete Normy's at a reasonable price for a while now. PAL versions of Madden '96 & '97 are both surprisingly scarce aswell, but will only cost a couple of quid when they do appear. That'll be Outback Joey - ultra-rare Genesis-only release that used the HeartBeat monitoring system. Also released in the US as "Operation Europe", I believe wheelaa nailed most of the rarer PAL titles, thogh I'd add Ecco Jr, Daze Before Xmas, Normy's BB-A-R and Flux to the list aswell (and it's "Izzy" not "Dizzy" who's questing for olympic rings, and Wolrd Championship Soccer 2 that's very rare in it's blue-box form ) There's quite a few more semi-rare titles just bubbling under these aswell although, unlike most other formats, there's really no *mega-rare* PAL MD games, which makes collecting a full set just a matter of patience more than anything. Most I've paid so far is about £30, and there's just maybe one or two more titles I think I'll have to break that for before I get 'em all. Nah, it's FF2, Ecco Jr & Daze Before Christmas that are Oz-only - most copies of D&R of Superman that I've seen were located in Germany. I think £50 might be pushing it, but I'd expect a complete one to be £30+ on eBay UK (got mine for a €15 BIN )
Hey all, I'm (very) new here. Just wondering if any screenshots of the title screen from the official Mega Drive Tetris have surfaced? I've never seen a ROM of the official cart, and needless to say have never seen a genuine Sega copy in person.
It is? I thought the game was common as dirt. Gave my copy away to a goodwill store a couple months ago even (I grouped it in with some sports games I thought no one would ever pay anything for). ...damn.
Wait wait..Comix Zone is rare? We didnt have any trouble finding it when I was a kid...The game rocks too
Yeah, Nagoya is rare, as is the Mega Answer. (not games btw) Sansan is rarer though, most people think it is a proto or doesn't exist, but it does. I don't recall seeing it for sale for a looooong time though if ever (save the one I hunted down) Pro Yakyu Van is NOT rare, lol, htf yes, rare no. Its $120 tops for a nice copy, maybe a few more if it has the number sheet that none seem to have (save my copy of course). Comix Zone jp isn't rare either, just pricey. Yahoo usually has at least 3 copies on it.
what about a train for the MD got that other day, its in japanses no suprise there much fun pusshing buttons how rare would you say it is ?
I take it you mean A Resha de Ikou aka Let’s Go By Train. Not rare, sorry. £2 at best
