Ratchet & Clank Magazine Demo (WIBU key)

hey there
just wondering,how i can get a WIBU key for the ratchet and clank mag demo...dont know if the game got any differences or not..i got the disc here,but got problems to play it on my broken ps2 but i found a pic of the startscreen/board

WIBU Key ? Sounds like a dongle to me.
Can you get a RAM dump of this state? Maybe we can do some Action Replay magic there

EDIT: Did a quick search, a WIBU Key seems to be a USB Dongle from a German company, I wonder how deep they could have integrated it into PS2 Code.

i talked to someone from insomniacgames and he told me this:

The WIBU code was given to members of the press when the demo discs were given out. Unfortunately, those codes no longer exist. You could contact the seller for the code I am guessing.

 

People have been able to hack certain games so you don't need the dongle, which is what iCEQB is getting at. I don't know the process, nor do I remember what games were hacked, but it may be possible to bypass with some work

The one I have uses a dongle on a flash drive. Ask whoever you got it from for the flash drive. They are numbered. I don't remember if the disc is numbered but if it is the numbers will match so have him find the dongle with the number on your disc.

hm,where can i find the number of the disc???there is something written on the disc,but iam not sure if that is a number or not..lol

 

sounds like your best bet is gonna be finding someone who is capable enough to crack the protection

I have the same issue with a Ratchet & Clank 3 disc I got a while ago (from Buyatari iirc), I haven't done much with it except extracting the cutscenes...if anybody's interested, you can find them at http://forum.unseen64.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1486&hilit=ratchet&start=60#p20342

 

are there any interesting cutscenes??maybe i should extract my CS too

 

I'd like to try and help out with this as well, being a hacker (and having found a fun little debug menu in the final game myself!). But as iCEQB mentioned, something like a RAM dump would be needed, as well as some good patience and experimentation. I'm sure there'll be a way to bypass this.

there are some news...
DecoderRing made a code,that allowes you to play the game on a emulator...the startscreen got 2 buttons,1 for game and one for video..now we have to try to edit the iso to make it playable on a ps2 and we will try to activate a debug
