Do you think you could replace the stock fan with a less noisier one?

No idea, and never heard of it. Sorry.

    But it's probably possible.

It is possible to have bigger scanlines with the slg, but they are too big, it's horrible.

Exept that it is the same. the circuit is the same.

That would be a very worthwhile mod. As long as the fans has the right dimensions and the correct CFM, I don't think there's any reason why it can't be done, unless there is some sort of special internal fan controller.

But yeah, I'm all for a Dreamcast but does not sound like a reef blower. I love the console, but damn it is loud.

Excellent work by the way, rax. Beautiful soldering, and the work on the outside is very clean.

    The ultimate Dreamcast:

    -Region Free Bios
    -Overclock
    -Internal VGA/ scart switch
    -Vga scanlines
    -Easy battery replacement
    -Less noisier fan

I wish someone could perform all these mods in one single Dreamcast. Heck, I would even call it "the Dreamcast 1.5" :very_drunk:

I'm having difficulty reading this diagram. Specifically, it seems like either where you're getting the VGA picture data, or where you're sending the VGA picture data is missing, unless these chips are already in the Dreamcast. I suppose I could just try to cram my existing VGA box into the Dreamcast. Or tap the RGB off of it maybe. Whatever way I can get both RGB and VGA off the thing. Damn you Skies of Arcadia for not supporting VGA output!

I guess it all depends on how your dreamcast reacts to the OC, I mean if it's overheating of course you should reduce the OC. Besides the overclock I don't see why the dreamcast would die in 2 months... am I wrong?

Better play the NTSC version if you want vga support for that game.

    Overclocking the Dreamcast is useless.

Just put a swith on the OC. I've done that fo someone years ago and his DC still work really fine with a 40MHz xtal (20% OC). You just use the OC while needed (palces where it's choppy, Snes emu, etc.) and the rest of the time it works on plain clock.

The diagram is for making a Scanlines Generator, not VGA.

Wouldn't the OC be useful for the upcoming game: Geist Force?

Sounds like someone didn't find a use for it.
