After the "updated" Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge being confirmed for PS3 and Xbox360, it's now Rayman Legends that will follow the same route. Anyone surprised? Nintendo really struggles to keep third parties and they end up losing almost all exclusives. The Wii U not being a huge seller didn't help it either. Anyway, i'm glad that i'll be able to play it now. Really like Rayman Origins, can't wait for the sequel.
Isn't it ironic? The Wii U has a lame library consisting mainly of ports of games everyone played a few years ago, and now even the exclusives are getting ported to other systems.
Not Nintendo's fault if people don't buy the damn games. Also: The Wii U does NOT have a lame Library. Have you played NSMBU? It's as good as SMW. No joke Zombie U? Nintendo Land just might be the best party game ever. Theses are 3 exclusive games for the system that are amazing that I already own. I didn't own more than 3 games for my PS3 that I Spent 520$ on until ~2010. So i'd say in my book the Wii U is doing JUST FINE.
It is good that the game will come to other platforms, but I'm disappointed with the second delay that the WiiU version got.
In my opinion, Wii U is just awful and had no intention to look at. I don't blame on Developer's for turning Exclusive games to multiplatform game/ PS3 is sure king of the crown for having recreating new IP game each year for PS3 exclusives to keep it something new and fresh for the audience.
Bet Sega is regretting making Bayonetta 2 a Wii U exclusive now. In fact, wouldn't be surprised if it was the next one to go multi-platform. Oh, and Nintendo Land sucks from what I've played of it.
I have a hard time discerning of multi platform is more rampant today than it was in the 90s, or if it just feels that way because it's easy to be cynical towards whatever current generation you're in.
I plan on buying a WiiU- potentially when the price drops (inevitable) and surely when SSB starts rolling out.
Nintendo was stupid not to launch with a big first-party game. There were first-party games, yes, but they felt like games that ought to have been released later in the console's life, not at launch. I may get one at some point, but not until I see some proper Nintendo-fare (3D Mario, SSB, Zelda, etc).
Wii U didn't have any "wow" effect on me what so ever. Exclusives eh, I don't play many exclusive unless it's a Mario game.
Personally I'm getting tired of New Super Mario Bros. The games have looked and sounded identical with each installment just obviously with a higher resolution and a few new additions (which were mostly taken from previous Mario games, so it hardly felt new). When you compare the graphical and musical progression between SMB1, SMB 2 USA, SMB 3, SMW, and Yoshi's Island, New Super Mario Bros just looks bland and uninspired with each installment. 4 different systems and yet nothing has really changed. Not saying I haven't enjoyed the NSMB games, just that I wished they would go back to using hand-drawn 2D sprites or giving the current 3D look a complete overhaul.
100% agreed. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's not impressed with the NSMB games, to me they feel like they're made for the people who never played the original Mario games and only know of the stuff that's referred to in pop culture – that's why they can't change it, because then it would no longer be recognizable as a "Mario" game.
Due to poor sales numbers they are bailing on WiiU already. Ubi especially after the beating they took. The wiiu is 2004 hardware in 2013, an xbox 360 with mediocre online experience, and a special controller. As soon as the new 360 comes out, they are dead in the states. They will crawl along on 1st part titles, shovelware bullshit and mediocre ports.
This. My fiancee and I have a blast with Nintendo Land. ANd while I don't agree that NSMBU was as good as SMB3 or SMW, it was one of the better NSMB titles. As for the "OMG EVERYWUN IS ABANDONING TEH WEE-YOO!" sentiment; if you honestly thought Rayman Legends and the update of NG3 were going to remain Wii U exclusive, you were either high or a Nintendo fanboy kidding yourself.
It's not that inconceivable to think that the new NG3 could've remained a Wii U exclusive: the updated NG games were never ported from PS3. Of course, the Wii U's userbase is pathetic compared to the PS3's.
The obvious difference is that NG and NG2 didn't need remakes, whereas NG3 most certainly did. NGSigma 1 and 2 were just ports that had more stuff because Sony demands it. NG3:RE was Team Ninja trying to save face for a heaping pile of shit. And of course the Wii U's user base is less than the PS3's. The PS3 has been out longer.
I always thought a follow-up to the Wii was sort of a bad idea. Nintendo definitely decided to pursue more of the casual crowd with the Wii, but I feel that the casual audience doesn't really upgrade their hardware all that often and won't find a need for another console. I was always a Nintendo person when I was younger, but now I feel as though I've grown tired of playing the same franchises over and over again. Don't get me wrong - I like Mario, but damn, how many times can you re-hash the (essentially) same thing? On other consoles, although the genres may not be all that innovative with each and every title release, at least it's easier to find different characters, stories, mechanics, etc.
It doesn't really make much sense for any dev going with a Wii U exclusive at this point while the install base is still so small compared to PS360
