Totally agree that they need a proper first party title with substance asap. Infact it should have launched with one. Gamecube had a similar launch with no first party title of substance (yeah Im looking at you Luigi's mansion). And we all know how that one turned out. In honesty I think Wii-U will have more success than the GC and less than the original Wii. But really I just want it to fail. I'll admit its ridiculously vindictive, but Nintendo must finally pay for their crimes (the Wii, the gimmicks).
I don't think anyone really expected this to be a WiiU exclusive anyway. Most Rayman games are multi-platform affairs. No news here.
I hope that Nintendo decides to create a way to link the 3DS to the Wii U to play DS and 3DS titles. This would add the huge amount of games to the DS and 3DS to the console and also boost sales of both the 3DS and Wii U. Also, Nintendo Land isn't bad if you have some people to play with. Plus when was the last time we saw a change in multi-player standards? 4 normal players and 1 master player. It seems to be fun and possibly might become a new standard for party games.
More info coming out about this. The developers who worked on the game are extremely pissed. They just went through three months of final crunch time for a february release when the suits made the call to delay and go multi platform. Most likely it was almost at gold status for wii u before the delay.
Why not release it for the WiiU as an exclusive for a few months and then go multiplatform once they have the rest of the versions ready then? Will it really take them 7 months to merely port it to XBOX360/PS3? I'm not buying it, the game probably isn't ready yet and they just decided to delay it even further and have it multiplatform as well.
Yeah. It's a shame Ubisoft delayed the Wii U version when these guys worked like crazy to complete it. Kudos for them for speaking the truth.
Considering Nintendo is funding and publishing the once cancelled game, you'd think people would be a little more grateful towards Nintendo. If it wasn't for them, you're precious Bayonetta sequel would not exist regardless of the console. But I doubt you'll see it on other consoles anytime soon. Not only would it be downright insulting to Nintendo on Platinum Games part, but I'm positive there are legal reasons preventing them from doing so. Mass Effect 1 made it to PS3 despite Microsoft funding and publishing the first game, but it took 5 years before the console exclusivity clause on the contract was up. Have fun waiting.
Or just pick up a Wii U once they inevitably cut the price, probably by a lot... I don't care that much anyway. Bayonetta was overrated, I'd rather see a sequel to the much better Viewtiful Joe.
How exactly is that the fault of Nintendo if the consumer doesn't buy it? Games come out that even I don't care too much for and it's not the publisher's fault or the developer's fault. That's not Nintendo's fault whatsoever because everyone has their genre of games that they like to play and the games that don't necessarily appeal to them. That all boils down to the consumer, not the developers or the publishers. Remember, we live in a generation that graphics have to be amazing; most people don't care for story or gameplay as much as they used to, it has to be amazing graphics or people aren't going to buy it. I commend Nintendo for trying to keep the gameplay aspect alive because that's how games are meant to be, not because of fancy graphics.
