Great, another excuse to (probably) delay the cube release further... They will probably (much like Viewtiful Joe PS2) be re-made with even more stuff to belittle the cube versions...

One more reason to own a cube out of the window.

They shouldn't do that. I wonder just how much cash Sony threw at Capcom to brake the deal they had with Nintendo? I really feel sorry for Game Cube owners. Here they were about to get a whopper of an exclusive and a reason to be the proud owner of a Game Cube when Mr. Capcom says, hey I think we'll end the exclusive deal with Nintendo and bring it out on the PS2, add a shit load of extra features that makes the Game Cube version seem like a waste of time. :smt009

oh well... at the end is all about the money, and i doubt the ps2 version will look better than gamecube, so, boys and girls, buy the gamecube version and burn the ps2 version :D

  4. Yeah, well Capcom did it before with RE: CV. Released first on the DC, then with loads of extra bits as an 'X' version for the PS2. Bah. Code Veronica on the DC is a quality game. My fave of the Resi series anyhow.

I really disagree with you Yakumo. I'm not even talk about the quality of the port or stuff like that. Let's just talk about the companies strategy.

It was Nintendo, that gave tons of cash to Capcom to make the series Gamecube exclusive. Anyone felt sorry about Playstation owners?

Also let's not forget that unfortunately gamecube is not a financial success that nintendo wanted (i love it, but it's not a succesful system). I would not blame Capcom for doing it, not even Sony. Capcom already did this with Viewtiful Joe and other game i forgot. Seems that the Gamecube is not worth developing for, which is a shame.

When Microsoft offered tons of Cash for games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Grand Theft Auto tp be ported, nobody mentioned a word. Let's not forget Squaresoft now being "friends" with Nintendo.

I hate this exclusivity stuff, but it will never end. This is what sells a System. People buy the Xbox because Halo, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Project Gotham Racing.... People buy Gamecube because Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero,... People buy the PS2 because Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid,... It always will be this way.

I'm not defending Sony, since i'm no fanboy. And although most of my "collection" is Playstation related, i'm very open minded. Anyway, it's just getting boring everybody always complaining about Sony. Move on.

Hell, i'm just wondering if the PS2 can run RE4 at a good framerate. Either way, i'm not too sad to see it end. Although the GCN has more graphical options when compared to the PS2, it's much easier to develop for the PS2. I dare say part of it is that the GCN doesn't have a good reputation in this console war with third party developers.

The thing I hate about PS2 fanboys is how they bitch when a Playstation exclusive goes elsewhere. MGS, RE, etc.

Oh gee, should the Ninty fanboys bitch because back in the day, they were the only console with Metal Gear? What the hell?!?!

That's really what ticks me off. The constant bitching about how the titles aren't exclusive any more. Idiots. I had a PS2, and will get another one, but Sony's fans are (for the most part) dumb assholes. :smt067

The whole game market is about throwing money at game devvies, so you get exclusives. Sega did it, Sony does it, MS does it, and Ninty does it, albeit less than the Sony and MS. It's a fact. :smt009

For the record, the PS2 couldn't handle Viewtiful Joe. It was much granier than the GC one. :-D

Thats a good point, I have played it and, damn, its purdy! (in a grim sense anyway) I think the PS2 could do it, but it would suffer. MGS3 i probably as technically complex as RE4, but with everything light sourced/shadow mapped to the degree RE4 is, the PS2 would take a hammering.

    i hate ports!
sure, its fun for the guy who don't have enough money to paid another console to play a game he whant to play.... but it also destroy the reason why you choose a system and not the other, because of the game, not the power! :smt009

plus, ninty need to get more gamers on their systems. they need help, not another multi-port.. :smt009

I dont really care for bitching on any console. I have a ps2 and a Gc and I really want to get an xbox soon. As mentioned earlier, its always about the money (to companies). Im sure there are other reasons to own a gc though. ;-)

That's a great point. I don't see many exclusive games anymore. If it's a PS2 or Gamecube exlusive, chances are it will be released on the other console withing a matter of months. Xbox exclusive games are almost always (and usually superior versions are) released on the PC.

One exception from Capcom, PN03 has not been (or announced to be) multiplatform, but despite some lacklustre reviews, it is a great game! I really really want to get hold of the early code of that game, the bits with the gun, and more acrobatics... *sigh*

Has any other source confirmed this? I remember Capcom swearing up and own (and up and down and up and down) that Biohazard 4 was a GC exclusive... period.

...and ff7 was originally going to be on the N64.

Sony always buys stuff they think will get real good. them buying ff7 dramatically boosted their sales and led to future ffs. Resident evil, I think, started on the ps, and I think they want most of the series only on their stuff. They have bought out stuff before...

I thought I heard something about a PS2 port, but then again I believe I may have read it in GMR (a lackluster magazine). Either that or I was dreaming it :smt023 .

  17. If these rumors are true, I guess the one consolation 'cube fans have is that they'll have RE4 for a while before the PS2 gets it, rather like Viewtiful Joe. It just seems a little sad that so many former 'Cube exclusives are jumping multiplatform. Granted, we have Nintendo originals and probably always will, but those don't exactly come out on what people call a regular basis, and for some gamers, that might not be a good enough reason to stick with the system. Not that the PS2 and - as I'm grudgingly beginning to admit - the Xbox aren't without their merits, but since buying one this summer, I've come to appreciate the Gamecube's power and quirks, and am a little saddened at the lack of love due to publishers farming out once exclusive titles to keep gamers with Sony or Microsoft's system.

I guess everyone's a bit of a fanboy at heart, even if you're the non-flammable type.

Hehe...you're right on there. I abhor the PS2, Sony in paticular, yet I play it, perhaps the most of everything. Some of my favorite games ever are for the PS1/2, from Sony no less. :smt042

I think the thing that gets me about Sony is that they are so pompous. They think they own the damn market, (which they do), but other companies are catching up. :smt045

This news saddens me a little bit :smt009 , but when you think of it from a buiness perspective it makes good sense. The PS2 just a way larger user base than the Gamecube and will undoubtedly sell far better there than on the GC. The only problem is that it will probably turn away people who may have purchased a GC for this game and will now wait it out for the PS2. Well, at least the GC gets it first and will most likely have the at least the graphically(and maybe more..) superior version. It's almost a mirror of the Viewtiful Joe game, except that Capcom promised to keep is a Gamecube exclusive. Here's a funny quote I found....

"The only thing I can tell you now is Resident Evil 4 will definitely release only on GameCube, not on another console, if it happens, I will cut my head off."

It sucks, but hey i own both a ps2 and cube, but im still getting the cube version, why you ask? The cube version is going to be better, no question about that, altough im sure the team wanted to make it remain cube exclusive, but im guessing capcom felt it wouldn't be a wise choice due to the market, but this isnt the first time this has happened, its happened to microsoft with splinter cell, which got ported rather quickly, hopefully killer 7 does well on cube.
