You are wrong on this. And it's with rumours like this that flame wars start. Sony never "bought" FF7. Squaresoft got very pissed off with Nintendo when they choose carts instead of cd media. The history is long, but everybody knows that Squaresoft went with Sony, after they and Nintendo split. Squaresoft :smt014 Nintendo The way things are going Sony will probably be accused of having weapons of mass destruction or supporting terrorists. Really, this is becoming a joke :smt045 :smt043
It's no shame for Capcom to get most money for a game they worked on for many years. I'll better see a RE4 port for PS2 than a closing Capcom because they supported an unsuccesful console. Resident Evil 4 will be nearly a year exclusive for GameCube - that's a long period and you can't blame Capcom for low GameCube sales.
Can anyone really say they didn't expect this? After all Capcom is the king when it comes to licensing and double (and in the case of the first RE quadruple) dipping of its properties. Especially the Resident Evil series. Cube will get it first but the PS2 will get the extras.
I've just got two questions. (a) How is it already million seller? (b) If they're so interested in the "users voices" then why have they never released RE1.5?
I Thought survival horror started with "Sweet Home" on the NES? At least, thats the earliest form of it I am aware of.
Well, maybe not the current genre (like Tachikoma said, Alone In The Dark perfected the "scary shit comes through windows" formula) but as far as zombies in the creepy mansion... oh yeah, Sweet Home all the way. When it comes to Resident Evil, Capcom has not an original bone in its body.
Call me a heretic, but I lost interest in the RE series after the first game. Part of what made RE1 so special to me is the fact that you're quarantined (mostly) to that mansion and its various immediate areas. The feeling that you were basically stuck in this location crawling with all sorts of zombies and undead creatures made for a fantastic game which evoked memories of horror movies like Night of the Living Dead and so forth. The sequels became to busy and convoluted for their own good. The story expanded on the mutation background and rather than facing zombies, you were now battling all kinds of weird mutant creatures. Also, the locations became too diverse and large for their own good.
Nya Nya! Look at me, I got a Gamecube and exclusive games *sticks out tongue* .... Who the hell cares about PS2 ports, it's not like releasing these games on PS2 (which I am glad about) is going to take them away from you. I do not have a Gamecube and I don't really plan on getting one either, but I do have a PS2, as I refuse to be raped by the prices on European games - if I buy a GC it will be either used or from the US.
The funny thing about that joke is, while it looks silly when the word GameCube is there, if it was XBOX or PS2, then it would be taken as a serious statement (or sales pitch). Just goes to show how how little Nintendo's machine is regarded by "serious" gamers.
No, what I rather meant is that the "now they're getting what I got! that's not fair!" attitude is just plain bollocks, methinks. The only argument I can relate to is that this might lead to the demise of Nintendo - but I think it would merely contribute, and Capcom (or whoever) remaining exclusive to Nintendo would only delay the axe.
I know, but something like someone saying "The XBOX is better as its the only console with Halo/2" and "The GameCube is better as it has the new RE games" don't mean the same thing as the GameCube is not as highly regarded, even ignoring sales figures.
