I know on Xbox-Scene they wont let you spell MS or Microsoft, it automatically edits it. Its not just fanboys guys. I think that way they figure less fools will stumble upon the site, however if you've been recently.....
That's their own stupidity. Like Microsoft doesn't know about Xbox-Scene. Like changing Microsoft to MS is some kind of defense. Still, Xbox-Scene is a cool site
Most of this has probably already been mentioned (it's hard to sort out constructive posts from posts by people who shouldn't be participating in this topic), but I figure some more posts supporting other peoples (or constrasting) opinions on games can't hurt. Maverick Hunter X is pretty awesome (but then again, the original MMX is one of my favorite games of all time). Unfortunately it requires 2.5 firmware, and currently there is no way to "trick it" into thinking you have 2.5 when you are at 1.5 or 2.0, so that means if you wanna do homebrew still at 2.5, you gotta get a copy of GTA and do the save game trick. I took the 2.5 plunge, figuring that I haven't even touched my PSP or DS since getting a GBMicro anyways. Maverick Hunter X might also still be on sale at Fry's for $25. If not, it looked like it was usually $30 there. I've also got the Japanese Formula Front, which I enjoy, but wouldn't recommend because it's a very much... non-game. ATV Offroad Fury is good fun, especially the "sports" minigames (like soccer / hockey). I haven't actually really done races in it, but I have played it countless hours on the mode where you can just drive around with no objectives. Darkstalkers is fun, and it's $10 at Toys R Us, so it doesn't hurt to pick it up. Gripshift is pretty awesome, and should be pretty cheap. It's this bizzare puzzle racing game thing. I'm sure you know all about Lumines, it is to the PSP what Tetris was to the Gameboy. Mercury is fun if you can get it for cheap. Metal Gear Acid is good for a change of pace. Twisted Metal Head On is, in my opinion, the best Twisted Metal out there. And online play in it just smokes everything else away. Untold Legends is very flawed, but if you pick it up you'll find yourself playing it way more often than you expected. It's an action RPG (think Diablo clone). Wipeout Pure is kinda fun, but I'm not too big of a fan of Wipeout-style racing. And if you aren't familiar with firmware things, here's kinda how it works : 1.5 is where you wanna be if you are really into the whole homebrew scene. It's the easiest way to play homebrew, and runs the most software. anything between 1.5 and 2.0 is bad (1.52, 1.51 for example), you want to upgrade to 2.0 if you are there. 2.0 can play plenty of homebrew, and you get some nifty new firmware features. The official web browser, and a few other things. You can also still play a decent selection of homebrew, but it is slightly more tricky to get running than homebrew on 1.5, and I don't believe the ever popular ScummVM works 2.5 is the version that titles coming out now are requiring (MMX came out last week, I believe, and it requires 2.5). From what I hear, to play homebrew on 2.5 requires a copy of GTA, and then you have to do this weird save game trick. There are ways to trick out version numbers, too. With "Version Changer" or whatever it is called, you can keep your PSP at firmware version 1.5 and play games that require 1.51, and 1.52. You can also play some games that require 2.0, but GTA and onwards can't be tricked by this method. If you are at firmware 2.0, there is software out there that lets you roll back your firmware version to 1.5. There is also a nifty program that includes 2.0 to 1.5 rollback functionality, and if you are at 2.0, lets you fake the version number up to and past 2.5 to play games that require that level firmware, pre-MMX. Mega Man X can't be tricked by this, it will get stuck on the first loading screen and then shut the PSP down when you try to play it on 2.0 firmware tricked to look like 2.5
Thanks for all the reccomendations guys, sorry I haven't been around lately... damn working 32 hours a week plus taking 18 credits this semester has been killing me and any of my free time as of late. I'll definitely look more into some of the titles reccomended here, maybe I can take my PSP into Gamestop and they'll let me try out some of the used titles, the guys there are pretty cool and I'm in there fairly frequently so I wouldn't doubt that they would. The one game I can't wait until it's brought over is the new Katamari game for PSP. I was going to import it, but I want the english version because everything that is said in that game is absolutely hillarious, nothing the King says makes any sense at all. Ever since I bought Katamari for PS2 like 3 weeks ago, I have become thoroughly addictited to it. ArcticCrash: I will definitely be heading over to Toys'R'Us today to pick up the Darkstalkers game, thanks for the tip off on it being so cheap. Hopefully ours is still open, I haven't been over that way in awhile. Anybody else know of some good bargin bin PSP games? I'm not above paying $30-40 for a game, but you definitely gotta love a bargin.
If they shipped to Europe I would have brought half their psp discounted stuff by now! Jammy rest of the world.
Well, should you be willing to foot the cost of shipping, GSL Heavy Industries LTD. stands at the ready for all your exporting needs.
I forget where the list of games is... but a few days before x-mas in 2005, Toys R Us put a ton of games for various systems down to $10. They said it was a permanent price change for those games, too, and they were still getting shipments in. The really good stuff (Resident Evil 4 for GCN, Darkstalkers PSP, et cetera) sold out at most places before the sale (because people knew the sale was coming ahead of time, they bought the games they wanted days before the sale, and used Toys R Us's price change guarantee thing to get money back. ie : they spent $50 on Resident Evil 4 the day before, then returned the day of the sale with the receipt and got $40 back). I got really lucky because I went home for x-mas, and we were visiting relatives in other states while back home, so I ended up going to like 5 different Toys R Us'es across many states. And the deal is well over a month old now, but the Toys R Us in town still has a table with all their $10 games out, and they do get more in periodically. Also, if you want cheap PSP games (or DS, or any other system), check play-asia's front page periodically. Often the weekly special is a $50 DS or PSP game for $10 - $15. Picked up games for both systems that way.
