At least have some decency to edit the labels so this can't be confused with the real deal! :(

As somebody that does a fair few events, I am interested in getting some of these for the more expensive games
Cant use flash carts, most people dont know how to use a basic menu system, ive seen STUPID IDIOTS pressing the CRT screen thinking that starts the game. (I am aware CRT touch screens exist)

Using some official ones is out as its some what of a low security area and I have seen people take games out while the power is on, ive had a game get fried due to that, it wasn't a cheap one (Geoman 2), also had one get nicked (perfect dark with everything unlocked), could always lock them behind some kind of plastic case, but that kinda spoils the look of it all
Cant use a passthrough like Gameshark as some people dont have a basic understanding of what one is

I cant seem to find PAL ones around, is it easy to change the region of them?

UltraCIC to the rescue. The Everdrive for example has a toggle switch for this, but it depends on the board; if the engineer wasn't as forward thinking, worst case is you replace a single chip (I've only ever encountered them as through hole components (easy to desolder), but they may also exist as smd so ymmv).

Does anyone know a place were I can buy CIC chips, except from removing them from actual carts ? There is probably no such place as these chips were under Nintendo copyright, but who knows....

Does the UltraCIC work with N64 carts and N64 official Flashcarts ? I tough it was only for Everdrives. I had a quick look at UltraCIC on google so I don't know a lot about it. Are there different UltraCIC chips as the official ones ( CIC-6101, 6102, 6103, 6105 and 6106, and their PAL equivalent) ?

    Nice post.

Schematic could do with some improvement (3.3v via 2 diodes for the flash chips? just do it properly). I am sure this will be improved upon. I am going to make it up in kicad shortly to play with it too.

    Thanks!

Do not need 7805 and diodes, if use a 3.3v flash chip, for example 29gl256/29gl512.

I tried building the entire proto cart using this and checked every connection, didn't work :( (I wrote a big-endian non-byteswapped rom into the flash memory)

Maarios, i have some game cards from Yaogang p. I bough in last year, i will make reverse engeneering in this weekend and lets disclose the problem.

The original circuit of Yaogand use a 128Mbits memory and one unique flash memoryc. In your shchematic have two low density flash . You must improve for minimum 64Mbits , because i have a Mario 64 dumped from Yaogang, and the file are ok ,good for make test.

So good to hear it, just as simple as desoldering all components and scanning both sides of PCB is enough completely!

if you wana make repros, just get yourself a DOCTOR V64 (they are pricey but fully worth it) with the ability to write and rewrite cartridges, back up saves and the rom file, ive got one myself and use it to blank un-needed carts, and reprogram them with the new rom, then shove a lable on. i dont condown piracy, i just use mine for dumping prototypes to a safer cartridge or just using it to dump development carts

Are you suggesting to erase and rewrite retail carts? Because that's not possible.
