Hey guy's, I found an original XBOX with a Refurbished Sticker that looks genuine from Microsoft on the bottom center of the console. It does not look like it was opened. Why would Microsoft put a sticker like that on the bottom?
My guess: 1) To show it's refurbished and 2) It's like a "warranty sticker" so they know if it's been opened or not.
Um, mine doesn't have that. It also wouldn't be in Calibri font either. http://xboxarchive.co.uk/doku.php?id=limited_editions:refurbished The MFG date sticker is usually a little different. About it.
I have one with the giant refurb sticker too, along with one like Hex's. I dont know if it is something that Gamestop did or MS though, I have a feeling it may have been the former.
I live in the USA and have a refurbished XBOX also. Mine has similar stickers and unique packaging also. If your refurbished xbox was sold in the USA the reason why it is marked with unique stickers is probably becuase it is required under federal and state consumer protection laws. Retail items that have been refurbished are required to be clearly marked as such before they can be sold. In theory, this aspect of consumer protection laws are designed to protect the consumer, but they also protects the manufacturer because refurbished items are typically subject to a different set of warranty requirements. The responsibility for clearly marking refurbished items usually rests with the manufacturer with some exceptions. Yes, I am grossly oversimplifying a complex body of law, but it should give you a pretty good idea why your xbox has the refurbished stickers.
One of mine has a refurbished sticker on it, but its just a cheap little paper sticker that only says "Refurbished". But when I got it, it all the other stickers were intact showing no signs that it had been opened. Its a v1.0, but also has a different PSU than my other v1.0. Not sure how many different PSUs went into that version though
This looks legit, but some game stores like GameStop are known to put their own stickers on consoles. I remember that they even had a refurbished PS3 60gb in a box with their own design.
