Hey there guys. I recently sold my perfect green GBA SP AGS-101 so I can buy a limited edition pikachu one on a local auction site. I'm very happy with my purchase but the scratches on pikachu's "face" bother me. I wanted to ask you about fixing/painting it and making it look brand new. So, look at the pics and tell me what you think.

If you mean fix the eyes on the picture, probably best to get the blackest CD marker pen you can get, with a fine tip and go over the black of the eyes

I might suggest making a template of the eyes and creating a mask, that way the edges will be properly defined.
Also, search and make sure the marker used is not going to break down over time, check with crafting websites, so it stays black.
I'd practice on spare piece of similar plastic too, so if you make a mistake it's there.
Also, if there is a solvent to clear up an error, get some of that, you never know after all.

Probably the worst advice I've ever heard.

The half-wiped-off eyebrows really bring it to the next level.

I thought about using a marker but I dissmised it pretty quickly. Would paintbrushing/airbrushing it with warhammer miniatures paint be better cause I have access to it?

You can get paint pens from Sharpie or Tosca, which quite a few artists use to customise consoles.

Bacteria is the one who thinks mixing wood and electricity is a fool proof idea so I'm not remotely surprised he suggested a sharpie.

How about scanning it with a flatbed scanner. Fix the image on Photoshop. Print it out 1 to 1 size on printable vinyl label, spray on a layer of clear acrylic. Cut and stick them on. Since it's not permanent, you can always peel them off for whatever reasons.

It would probably be easier and cheaper is all I am saying.

do a stencil(cut out the shapes that were printed on a high grammature paper), glue it with double sided tape. spray paint and you're done.

    Easier, probably. Cheaper, no way.

@xmog123x would the spray paint stick to the unsanded surface?

I would say it has not much real value due to the damage, even restoring it won't recover the value.

I would have a vinyl skin made and put that over the damaged graphic.

You asked how to get it to "look brand new". Simple answer - you won't. If you want to touch it up with paint or marker pens, it's NEVER going to look "as new" because that's not how the decals were applied. Personally, I wouldn't bother to take such an amateurish approach.

My best advice would be to keep it as your playing console, and get a minty one if you really must have one as a collector's piece. To be honest, it's probably the worst of the limited editions, though.

I think for a Pokemon edition, it's beautiful because of its simplicity. The Pikachu N64 qualifies for the worst limited console of all time, though!
