Thought this would be a nice thread for people living relatively close to eachother. Anyone know of any fabulous game shops (with imports/high end games particularly) in New England?

I know your looking for NE area, but someone needs to jump start this thread :smt042 In the Los Angeles area all the good shops are now slave to ebay for the good stuff. Screw them they do not get my money :angry If I see something on ebay and its from my area I will not bid on it , I don't care how bad I want it. :smt023

Any gameshop near me goes broke before I ever find them. With the introduction of online stores and Ebay the day of the small game shop are just about over. At least in the US I think. I can't really say I'm sad about it either. All the stores I've ever been to sell the same stuff at outrageous prices. When my friend went to one looking for a Jaguar controller. They wanted something like $30.00 for it. Where I live if you find someone that wants to buy a Jaguar controller you better come to a fair deal because your not going to find another person who wants it for a few years.

there is a good game shop call 'GameTron' in Cambridge it sells: retro, imports etc.

The owner is Japanese and goes over regularly to pick stuff up :prayer:

they have a load of PSPs, but at £400 a pop...... they are way out of my finaces.

I think someone said there was a Indy (inderpendent) games store in New York that was selling PSPs for $400?

I think I know which shop you are referring to. I've heard about though never been there... Central Station is morelike near Chinatown rather than CBD and that huge bus station is near UTS...

    from what I heard it wasn't that good? o_O;
maybe I need to check it out myself...

p.s. that part of town I used to go there during lectures when I was studying at uni.

For the Randstad folks, the new store called "Back Games" on the Hoge Woerd in Leiden has some good stuff... and a MVS cabinet on Free Play :smt023

Plus, if someone ever finds himself in Antwerp, be sure to check Shop Less Ordinary. Its above the Chinese supermarket at Van Wesenbekestraat 16-18. That is, if you can understand the owner's accent :smt043

Moreover, for the folks in Michigan, there's a store called Game Hits along the Saginaw Driveway in Lansing... and they have another store in Holt that's supposedly even better. Mmmm boxed 32X's for $15 :-D

I don't know of a single decent games shop in this stupid country...

  12. Well, in the UK we have Videogameimports.com, who don't have an actual shop afaik, and Raven Games, London.

Anyone in the UK know of a decent import store with a decent selection of old skool stuff?

I'd be interested to know of any in New England as well. Ever since Diehard Games in Nashua closed shop in the mid-1990's, there's been nothing.

Theres another nice store down the west end. Erm out of goodge street station take the first right and its on the other side of the road. Its got a website but their name escapes me. All i know is that its much nicer then CEX. Now thats a dump... dont even go in there...

  15. There's a regional chain in the Southeast US called Rhino Video Games. There's two locations in Jacksonville FL alone. They have a pretty good selection of 16-bit (Genesis and SNES) and everything newer than and including Playstation, slightly less so for NES. They won't have much if anything for systems that weren't wickedly popular, but you can get Saturn hardware there and a few games for it everyone has or noone wants. The staff aren't completely comprised of EA jock robot salesmen like the national chains and actually know things like when certain games are coming out :smt045 and they're typically amicable to BSing about stuff. Prices seem to be fair, either slightly higher or lower than ebay (old stuff is usually lower).

The sites kinda lame. Also i do find some bits overpriced (then again tis a shop not ebay) but it isnt as well known as the other shop around (e.g. cex) but its so much nicer and staff is nicer.

I bought few send hand games from a place called Discount Inn in Macquarie Centre near Macquarie University. The thing was I bought 2nd hand titles but they gave me factory sealed copies from the box?
I asked few mates of mine and they said they had similar experience as well... they put the crappy case on display with low price but the actual item they give to you is either mint or factory sealed... beats to buy from EB where even brand new one is opened... o_O; If I'm going to hand over A$99 for a new game I want it factory sealed mint... :p
