Colors are more solid on hdmi that I can confirm compared to playing movies on ps3 vs 360 vga or component.

Yeah Movies for sure look way better over HDMI. That I can agree with.

My problem has been and continues to be that my monitor doesn't do HDCP nor HDMI. Thankfully a HDMI->DVI adapter works superbly on everything that doesn't require HDCP which is unfortunately a rather short list.

It also doesn't support 1080p over component, just 1080i. Honestly I can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080i on this monitor though I get the feeling 1080i isn't as smooth as 720p.

I invested in a MUX-HD made by Moome. It was quite expensive back then, but it has solved all my HDCP stripping needs. Google it if you want more info....

1080i Is limited to 30fps(or is that only with video and not games?)and issues with interlacing when there is a lot of motion.

Thanks to the advice here, I've disabled HDMI on my TEST PS3 and have recorded the following HDMI capture (thankfully interference free too! :D)

Worked first time perfectly, so just ordered a 5-way HDMI switch box (with remote) and some extra HDMI cables for my other consoles. Just need to test the 360 out when my extra cables arrive :)

Both look great. You guys are way too picky. Although this coming from a guy who prefers the rounded edges caused by RF adapters. I really only use HDMI for the convenience of my 360/ps3. Everything else is component/composite/RF. I have never looked at my TV and complained of blurry, saturated or cooler/hotter colors. The only thing that bugs me is the lag of analog inputs on LCD's. Although no one ever seems to talk about it. So I went and bought a CRT for all of my gaming devices sans 360/PS3.

I'm not sure about video, but I know that God of War III runs in 1080i and that game definitely runs at 60fps.

I think 1080i is really only at it's best on an HD CRT, though. From what I've seen at least, it makes it look like much more natural than it does on an LCD or DLP HDTV. The interlacing is also barely noticeable.

Agreed. Input delay has made some games unplayable for me (especially PS2 over component for some reason).
