i could never get into sex in the city, but man if you had hbo it was either that or the sopranos, i remember when comedy central brought absolutely fabulous over here and it was extremly successful despite being a british show, same with iron chef when it came to the U.S.(abit corny dub though) which then had new episodes made exclusively for the U.S. market. Trust me americans can get a wide range of humor, and british humor i widely understood here, shuan of the dead was a great example as well as guy richies british gangster flicks( until his wife killed his career, damn material girl).

The sad thing is, most people (Americans and British alike) are morons. Sorry, but it's the truth. As such, I'm sure the UK has a large stack of ass that the general population thinks is funny, but of course, nobody else does.

I highly recommend you move to a country where you're not a native speaker. Since it actually requires work to understand just about anything, you tune out unless you REALLy want to hear it. Is a great scenario for someone like me who's quickly becoming a misanthrop.

Ab Fab was pretty popular with the gay crowd. Never did much for me. Some UK things that I liked were Trigger Happy TV... something the yanks tried to duplicate (and failed miserably at), and The Office which was fucking hysterical (also duplicated by the yanks. Haven't seen it, but can't imagine it being any good). I actually laughed quite hard at Lock Stock & Trainspotting, just b/c they were so over the top.

On the flip side, I've got an Irish mate that I hung around w/ in Japan that would smoke up and watch Friday with me. We laughed our asses off, even though he admitted he didn't understand a lot of what they were saying.

that's too bad about all the Sega stuff being removed :(

I did watch some of the Sex in the City shows and actually liked them. I remember the hyper sex crazy one (Miranda ?) ended up with a fireman but they couldn't do it because his part was too big !! Which must have been big to fill her up :D

many of the British BBC comedies I find really stupid and dull such as Faulty Towers, Monty Python (Like the movies though :) ) Absolutely Fabulous is so annoying that I have to change channel. For me the main stream comedies are crap while the more cult ones make me laugh such as Red Dwarf or Black Adder but I put that one down to Ben Elton being on of the writers. He's so funny when live as well as being able to write something serious.

GaijinPunch, what do you think of Sanma (the big teeth git) on Japanese TV? I personally hate his guts along with the other nonsense so called TV talents but the Japanese love him. So I'm just curious about you opinion.

You know i belive it just depends on a peoples taste, you can not generalize an audience and say they wont get it, cause that is not true. However with Rent a Hero No.1 im glad they bothered to do it since i always wanted to play the game english, and commend them for trying to make it understanable for the U.S. audience, sadly i doubt will ever see an english release due to the fact aia can not find a U.S. publisher, and the main reason the game got canceled was the fact the market came oversaturrated for games on x-box, so since they had to delay one more month, retailers lost intrest in making orders for the game, and the U.S. branch of Microsoft requires that certain amount of orders for a game must be made in order to be allowed to be sold and published for x-box, you can read the whole interview some where on team x-box's site, its a good read and reveals alot about how their deal with sega works as well as how far along the other x-box ports are.

I think most of the talents in Japan are very silly. Shingo is the only one I really liked, and that's b/c he busted his balls trying to speak English, and didn't mind looking like a twat in the process. I couldn't name a SMAP song if my life depended on it though. Oh, yeah -- the sex-crazed on is Samantha. Just about everything that can happen to someone happens to her. She winds up meeting the perfect guy, but his johnny is 'unnoticeably' small.

Sayin: If reviews copies went out, you can bet your ass there will be a downloadable version of it one day. You just need a modded Xbox.

I have the modded Xbox, and a friend of mine has been promising me a rip for ages. But no luck yet. Personally Im still holding for 505 Street Games to release it in the UK. They've released a lot of other niche stuff.

I take then few have been following this as closely as I have over the past year? AIA basically had full translated except for the credits. They went to a lot of trouble to maintain the humour and translate it reasonably well, since they claim to have been big fans of the DC version. From people who've played it have said, it actually worked out and was quite funny. Thankfully with very little americanism in it.

They planned the release, everything was set, and a load of US mags reviewed it, with ok scores. Then AIA start losing money, or went bust I think. Anyway, the whole thing has been on ice ever since. Here is some linkage for you, thanks to a Mr Peebles for providing me with all these a while back when I emailed 505.

    These links don't work anymore.
Also, does your username translate to "Sleeper" or something? Looks somewhat slavic and vaguely familiar...

They don't work? Thanks for the info, I haven't checked them in a while.

Well, I guess that just goes to show what a very bad way AIA is in, with their site going down. Damn, that's not good news.

Well done with the recognition of the slavic origin of my username. Szczepaniak is my Polish surname, as in "John Szczepaniak", homebrew games designer, overworked games mag writer and ego-maniac extrordinaire. You may recognise it from an old DC game I made, or from one of my articles. Apparently "Szczep" in Polish means "tribe", at least thats what my dictionary says. I used to use a variety of forum nicks, but eventually decided to just use my surname. Most people still think its a nick though. :D

On a side note, Ive recently watched Yakumo's review of it on Retro Core, and it's made me want an English copy even more.

Pity it won't load on a PAL system. I had to play mine on a friends JPN DC. :(
I don't think there ever was a boot disc that made it work correctly, something about the display system it used. The screen went all horribly wonky on a PAL system with RGB scart cable.
