I got home today and found that some F**ker has cut the Phono plugs off my component cable for my gamecube and I have no idea how to wire it back up. I got a thick red, thick blue, thick light green, a thin dark green and a thin white cable I do have a cable I can use to repair this cable (my wii component cable) Does anyone have any idea which cable I solder to the new phono plugs? Thanks
Id imagine the thick red/blue/green and the grounds are your R/G/B phonos and the other are your audio. I wouldnt cut them off another cable though - just buy some new coloured phonos off ebay and solder them on.
Buy gold replacement rca. Wire the silver outer to the case(ground) The inner copper to the inside terminal. This carries the signal.
Dont think the component cable has audio. Fairly certain that comes from the standard video-out port.
This is correct, the component cable for gamecube only has video signal, you need to use the standard AV Multiout port for getting audio. So for the audio part, you are better off buying a replacement Nintendo AV Multiout cable (you can grab one from an SNES or N64 if you have though), and then for the component cables you should do fine with what ASSEMbler and Bad_Ad84 told you. And btw, why the hell did someone cut the cables?
thanks for the advice guys I just ordered some parts on ebay so now I have to play the waiting games which I hate. The reason it was cut was because my brother was being a cock head since I beat him at tekken tag 2 he cut a few of my cables for payback and we shouted at each other and I said that the gamecube one was actually rare and expensive and he felt back so hes given me some money to say sorry. So yea not a big deal really but it just delayed my gamecube gaming... lame
Dang, he does deserve a beating xD Anyway mate, let us know if you could fix it and maybe show some pics of the final job?
bastard cut a $150 rare as they get cable for losing a game.... I would stuff a controller up his butt... sideways... A Jaguar Controller.... Also - why hasn't anyone made a cheap alternative to this uber expensive cable? it is cheaper to buy a wii and a component cable than just a gamecube component cable...
This has been discussed many times http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_GameCube_accessories#Component_video_cable
haha thanks, will do I ordered some more parts to make the job alot cleaner (got some advice from Bad_ad) and when finished I will post pics
Actually, there's a guy over at gc-forever who had a project going on, don't know the current status though, on making a cheaper alternative component cable.
You can peel back the insulation on the cut RCA plugs to verify which color went where. Even if you have the plugs accidently switched, you can verify the connection back on the TV by swapping the connection if needed. The only concern is which are the "ground" connection since there are a total of five wires and three plugs to solder. Not easy to trace back to the digital port since the cable has a small PCB built in the plug.
WOW, what a bad loser even my kid would Never touch my Tech without Prior Permission. Anyhow i think it been pretty much covered just take you time with it and good luck
Getting close to a finished product. I saw his finished PCBs earlier in the week. I'd murder him for destroying a component cable.
Could you post a picture of both the wires and the connectors? I repair video game controllers and video game accessories. Either that, or I could take a look at it if you ship it to me. PM me for further details.
