I have so much going on right now. I do want to start up a YouTube channel and post some of the stuff I have worked on. When I have a real free day to do that I may just pull the trigger and make a build video on it. I think I did this project while the site was still in limbo so I mostly just dropped off my files for people who were interested.

use version 1.2 and print between 50-100 microns for best results. But that also depends on the printer itself. Use what you believe to print best.

The version 1.2 is the most recent, it has some fixes to the original release and instead of gluing the two pieces I moved to use screws to secure the pieces together.

The header for the per switch needs to be soldered, I take wires from ground to the switch header back to the PicoPSU enable pin.

I'm getting pretty bad interference with my PicoPSU. I'm assuming its the PSU causing it because the interference waves seem to be in sync with the movement of the disc drive motor.
Can anyone recommend a PicoPSU that they know works perfectly with no interference? (keep in mind I use the GD rom drive)

What brand PicoPSU are you using? I went with the name brand one. It might not be the PicoPSU but the brick. The first one I tried added a ton of noise to the system. I don't have a working GDRom to test with and see if the GDRom adds any noise to a working setup, which I suppose is possible. This might be one of those cases that you need a PicoPSU that operates on a 19v input and actually converts the 12v rail rather than just passing it through.

It could be the PicoPSU then. I use the 80w official PicoPSU branded one I think it was less than $20 on amazon. My brick was originally for an external Raid HDD enclosure, I think its only a 60w brick.

I would start with finding a different 12v supply. In all likelihood it's influencing the noise more than the PicoPSU. You probably don't need a 6a one, a 5a one should be ample for the DC, I know some people had bad luck on getting ones that worked really well. If you can find something that went with a name brand appliance that might be more likely to work better, if you have one that outputs 2.5a or more you can give that a go, it might not run the GDROM but you can see if the noise is reduced, that would confirm the power brick as the problem.

I agree the real PicoPSUs are made much better than the clones.
The DC doesn't even come close to 60w of draw.
5v rail on the original PSU can only provide 3a
3.3v rail is also limited to 3a
12v rail is limited to 1a
So somewhere around 40w give yourself some headroom and you have 50w of draw with the 12v rail hooked up.
30ish watts with only 5v and 3.3v hooked up.
All these numbers include a lot of overhead, the DC will never hit the max draw the original supply was capable of producing

yeah £66 is way too much to use on a dreamcast... I might as well just go and buy a new dreamcast... lol

@AndehX we have the same picopsu and i have no noise or any interference. but with gdemu. try with better power supply mine is a 12v 4a. most of cheap power supply simply dont convert to propper dc and that make noise to systems like tvs radios etc.

That's the price of quality. If someone loves a console so much in order to mod it heavily and buy expensive gd-rom replacements it's not a big deal to spend some more money and get a good certified PSU that doesn't use chinese parts... IMHO that is, to each their own :)

Yeah true, but imo, they're just not worth that much. I mean it's just a tiny PCB with a few off-the-shelf components. Good quality or not, there's definitely not £66 worth of components on it :p I could buy a decent quality ATX power supply for that kind of money...
