    Hi everyone,

As some of you know, the PAL (dunno about other regions) version of this game runs in 50hz and does not have a proper VGA support (the FMVs do not show up on the screen). However I have successfully patch the game to run in 60hz and fix the FMV playback in VGA (See this post).

The problem is that I only have the UK GDI dump and I would like to release a patch for the French, Italian, German, Spanish (is there any other version of this game in PAL region?) versions but I don't know where I can get the (TOSEC) gdi dumps.

Does any generous soul have them and can share with me?

    Thanks

    jc

UPDATE: got the UK, French, Italian and German versions. Still need to get the Spanish one.

I thought the vga patching is done by modifying the ip.bin? It's been years since I've played with it though

That is the bare minimum to do and it only makes the game pass the VGA check in the bios so that you can boot it. Then anything is possible... Some games support VGA, so others do not and this is why you need to patch the game ;)

Hey buddy, I wouldn''t go for TOSEC, consider Redump or Trurip.

    EDIT1:
TOSEC btw also only lists French, Italian and a PAL version. Redump on the other hand seems to have a German variant. Maybe it would be the best to gather all the different Images and make one automatic patcher, which can detect the Image (via checksum?) and patch it accordingly.

EDIT2: Seems like non of the preservation groups, list a spanish GDI variant. Redump and Trurip however have the german version catalogued.

EDIT3: Is there any evidence, that a Spanish copy exists? It's strange that NONE of the preservation groups lists such a version, they are not even listing it under missing games. The only spanish version I can find is a scene release by a grouip called PARADiSO ... I somehow suspect, that there is an european version, that includes the spanish language, rather than being spanish only ?

I would not be surprised if the german and spanish versions exist. Capcom did it for RE:CV (I even own a gdi dump of the spanish version), one language per release thus 4 or 5 releases (en, fr, de, es) for europe region --> I think the italian version exists as well.

Yes I just checked, there is indeed a spanish version, but none of the preservation groups seem to be aware of it? You can't even find it on ebay.es ??
Anyway, here are the Game IDs for each version:

    Code:
    NTSC-J : T-1220M

    NTSC-U : T-1217N

    PAL-EUR (UK): T-7019D-05
    PAL-ESP : T-7019D-06
    PAL-FRE : T-7019D-09
    PAL-ITA : T-7019D-13
    PAL-GER : T-7019D-18
I'm currently checking if the spanish scene release by PARADiSO is matching the above spanish Game ID

BTW: The german version exists and is catalogued by Trurip and Redump, it's just a matter of finding it now.

EDIT: Yup, this indeed seems to match the spanish game id:

FYI, afaik, TOSEC = Trurip, for Dreamcast, for all intent and purpose. Redump is to avoid for Dreamcast though.

My memory tells me TOSEC is to be avoided when it comes to DC GDIs. But then again I wouldn't know any reason.
What I do know tho, is that Dumpcast was merged into TOSEC at some point.

But as I said, I don't know what one of them did wrong, that another group did better, would be interesting to know the difference in their GDIs.

Basically, Trurip takes the dumps from TOSEC/Dumpcast, maybe the naming is different though. TOSEC use Dreamcast to dump GDIs with raw 2352 bytes/sector tracks. This is basically how the dreamcast "sees" the disc (the gd-rom drives sees a bit more of bytes/sector, but the subchannel etc aren't used for anything on DC games. I don't even think that info ever leaves the gd-rom unit, or know if it even could).

The problem with redump is that they dump the discs using pc drives and apply some sort of corrections on the audio offsets and tracks LBA, resulting in a gdi that is technically invalid, but that could be corrected to be made "proper".
    @darcagn, could probably elaborate more.

That would've been too easy wouldn't it. I remember megagames had dreamcast patches but Dino is not in the list
    hmm :/

German version is currently being acquired from a TruRip archive, you will receive a PM once this is done.
We should ask @ASSEMbler to maybe make it a bit of a bigger news ... maybe there is a spanish user here who already has this game on hand. Maybe we can also reach more people for donations this way.
I wouldn't get more copies, once there is one spanish dump listed, it will trigger a lot more people in the TruRip / Redump / TOSEC community to verify it.

EDIT: German version acquired and sent to you via PM. Spanish version left ! :)
BTW, your patch will also take care of NTSC-J and NTSC-U correct? This should realy cover all versions imo :)
