do you think you can post the iso here, so sb can find the booting code and hack it to boot arcade bios or arcade isos?
white disc is a dvd you are right =) 2.35 gig or so contains of 5 files Opera00.dat - Opera04.dat size around 6xx mb except the last one which is around 200mb
Interesting. Are any of the other m2 discs formatted in such a way? (chunks of files labled operaxx.dat?). Maybe you could try opening one or two of them in hex. Somtimes plain text will pop up and give you an idea of whats in the file.
normal file names come up something in the line of dir/pontiac... and somekind of *.bins it seems the filesystem was limited to 6xx mb so maybe thats a left over from the old 3do ?
Any chance of running those files on the mystery disc through a hex editor or plain text converter? The only reason why I ask is its possible to sometimes uncover some interesting stuff. If you want to see some funny/interesting stuff along the lines of the "imaduck" gag, try running an original 3do rom into a hex editor. Scan through and you'll see that the developers did indeed have a sense of humor. I'm curious to see if this unknown disc, since it has a strange file naming structure to it, is some sort of utilites disc. I suppose its possible, but something about that seems strange. One of the appeals of opera was the placement of redundant data to reduce seek times. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it seems like limiting filesize to an arbitrary limit like 6xx MB's would somehow screw up a good idea like that.
thats what i meaned they didnt bother or had time to blow up the limit from 650mb of a cd to 4.7gig of a single layer dvd so they used that 650mb per file workaround i think vobs on a dvd are also limited to 1gig the pontiac disc seems just to be another one of those car sales dvd
the pontiac has to be atleast a iso/udf system but i wont have time to check that more out since iam now in work cycle which means 4x12hour shifts in the next 4 days but after that i have 12 days free so i think ill do some more checking
Could you rip off the first MB of the dealer demo disk? I have a copy of the DVD, but it doesn't boot. I'm thinking there may be some boot sector that I'm missing. I think I heard that it uses the boot sectors of the ISO-9660 format. (Maybe even El-Torito?)
I believe i did a straight up 1:1 copy for cdoty, so whatever was there was copied. I think I sold it to him anyway heh
got the tool will try it tomorow or tonight depends if i can make enough space for the iso (any way to make the program read directly from a cd/dvd drive ?)
Do you know what the tags should contain? I did a quick search through the Opera00.dat file, and found: tagEnd, tagShowFrame, etc.
Is it possible it could be listed as something else? Here's the directories I have (under System.m2): Audio Boot Drivers EventBroker FileSystems Fonts International Modules Programs Scripts Tasks
Is the Opera00.dat a full cd image, or does it need a header? Here's the first 2MB of the file: http://www.rastersoft.net/Opera00.zip
