Wasn't this done ghetto-style by deleting some areas and objects after the player passed them to prevent the demo from crashing? What I read is that it'd be impossible to run this demo from start to finish without crashing if they didn't modify the surroundings while the demo was running.

Well, the E3 2004 Halo 2 Demo is actually out on the internet, it pretty much is just a fancy version of the Halo 2 Beta. Video of the E3 2004 Halo 2 Demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdeNABioiRc

I imagine you mean the E3 2003 Demo, with the notorious missing mission. And no, I've looked. I highly doubt there is a person outside M$ and Bungie that has a copy of it.

I've never heard of that beta being released, and most discussoin ive read seemed to agree that bungie was kind of faking the demo and had someone behind the scenes actively removing actors etc from the demo remotely in order to keep things running smoothly

Really? Because i found links just Googling "halo 2 beta" on the first page of results. No clue what they are because Halo aint my thing, something about a Mongoose and Flamethrower being included).

That's the multiplayer beta that's been whored about for like 3 years and not the e3 demo you're looking for.

If you read the thread you would know we were talking about E3 2004 Halo 2 Demo that was essentially a modified version of the Halo 2 beta. He was requesting a link to the Halo 2 beta, knowing that it wasn't the same thing he was looking for in the original post.

The E3 2003 Halo 2 Demo is the one that you are thinking of, which as far as I am aware is not released.

I did not know that :O You say that it's been three years, how could I not notice? :concern:. From what I see, it's Halo 2 Multiplayer Beta 1 and Beta 2, the second has a flamethrower and mongoose, cool.

The flamethrower and mongoose are all from the same build, it has just been modified to unlock them. Any build that you can still play has been modified. I actually think most of them are modified builds.
