[Request] Resident Evil 1.5 vanilla build

My apologies for the misleading information; I made a logical leap in assuming that it was the "80%" build specifically. What was confirmed to me was that this "contact" possessed at least one build later in development than that of IGAS. The "80%" (aka "Inflames") build seems to be the most likely candidate for this description, as it is the build that Kim's contact possessed. How IGAS confirmed the legitimacy of this contact remains a mystery to the public (surely some piece of undeniable proof was offered).

The posts at THIA speak clearly on the matter: there's no build confirmed in this deal other than "some number". These fabled sources pretty much always turn out to be bogus, yet people seem to fall for the same trick over and over.

 

What's up with all that whining always when a new proto gets released?

You didn't specify why they felt that it was a weight off of their shoulders. I assumed that you meant it was a weight off because people were pressuring them to release it, now they don't have to worry about people pressuring them. Clearly they were concerned from a legal standpoint. But still, I call BS on their concern of legalities. Because they said they were absolutely, 100% going to release the vanilla version when they released their final version. So clearly, it didn't matter if legal action was going to be taken upon them or not. They were going to do it. I think it's the former of their concerns, that leechers and noobs wouldn't stfu. They just didn't want to appear as dicks.

 

^ I searched a lot to find where that was stated and I couldn't find anything about a release of the vanilla build happening for certain at some point. Makes perfect sense with the legal concern, which should have suggested how much speculation revolves around this project, especially when the official source states one thing and external sources come up with fake-sounding bits of information. I guess this is how Internet rumors are born and why most of 'em should be taken with a grain (or a jar) of salt.

 

The "risk" is not merely a legal one. Publicly leaking prototypes tends to alienate certain members of the prototype community. These are people from whom IGAS might benefit if they ever manage to regain their good graces. As far as Capcom is concerned, I personally doubt that they will intervene unless money is publicly exchanged (assuming this trend continues). IGAS is relieved because the source of the leak is unrelated to them (beyond a reasonable doubt). IGAS can thus rightfully deflect any blame or accusations that may come their way, since the burden of proof rests with the would-be accuser, and we've yet to see any concrete evidence that supports such a connection.

 

I wonder if that means that they could also sell their final build of RE1.5 and and then deflect blame to those who leaked the vanilla build.

 

No. It's still Capcom's property (minus their code).
