The only prototypes that are leaked are a trial version with a debug menu, and I believe a more complete but disk one only with debug, both for the GC. Im sure some other people here have some other stuff, but not leaked.

And that prototype hasn't leaked or been confirmed to be owned by anyone, so get in line :p

Mate, there's been no leaks (publicly at the very least that I know of and none of the usual private and public collectors that I would expect to land a copy of the build have gotten anything on it either) of this particular build of RE4. Additionally there wouldn't be a PC or a 360 (the 360 build is the PS2/PC ported to 360 and PS3 anyway) build of it as this is from the very early GameCube development stages.

That particular trailer is from one of the old Tokyo Game Show Capcom Special DVDs. Probably 2002 or so, I can't recall exactly as I have a stack of them and a few Capcom E3 discs too.

I believe there was already a topic requesting this particular build under the title of "Resident Evil 3.5" as it is more well known as in a similar vein to the "Resident Evil 1.5" RE2 prototype community-given title.

The only RE4 ones that have been uploaded to have anything of interest currently were:

    • E3 RE4 (close to retail) build which included a debug menu.
    • Hacked retail RE4 Preview Version which included some debug functions.
    • A demo copy that included a couple of similar press functions, most were disabled

And the retail GameCube version of RE4 also includes the prototype model of Ashley but the models normals are kinda fucked up if you do a direct rip. A model of Regina from the first Dino Crisis was used as a placeholder for Ada and there was also a placeholder using Leon's hands with a knife on top of a MASSIVE egg used as placeholder for Ashley.

The closest thing that I could suggest for you to look at would be DEMENTO/Haunting Ground as it does actually seem to use some of the same textures and bisque doll models within the environment/room files of the game when compared to the footage and screens of this particular build (but given that half of the DEMENTO internal and external development team was involved with RE4 at one point in time, this isn't particularly surprising for random asset reuse - hell, Ramon Salazar's hat shows up in one of the closet backgrounds in REmake).

It wasn't shown publicly, other than a trailer which doesnt really count. Capcom did a solid playthrough of it on one of their later disks though, much like how they included a bunch of 1.5 footage.

It wasn't shown publicly playable, the footage was all pre-recorded when it was shown at press events. If there had been a publicly playable build then there would've been higher chances of an E3 or TGS build having surfaced at the very least.

None of the usual people in the community I would expect to have a shot at obtaining it have had a chance to get it and it hasn't surfaced in general compared to other particular builds within the series. So, this seems to be more of a mystery in contrast to 1.5 having shown up numerous times in various stages of completion too sadly.

I'm only curious about it due to the asset similarities between it and DEMENTO/Haunting Ground as I'd like to see if they had used PS1/DreamCast sort of character textures originally in the files as I found some in DEMENTO's textures and it just seems unusual for the timeframe.

Ah thanks for the insight Borman! and indeed, for a beta build as early as this is, there is QUITE a good bit of similarity's huh?

Yes, there are some outright models used in the environment files that are the exact same as what was used in the trailer but they have entirely different textures. The gold mirror at the end of the hallway was used in DEMENTO but had a stone texture on it as it was used for a wall decoration. There are other room file textures that match up to the texture library used in the "3.5" footage but most of the textures that are shared have had some slight modifications (borders and the like added to them) but there are multiple spots in DEMENTO where they look quite similar.

May have been coincidental, may have been assets being reused - most of the staff I've spoken to specifically on the topic of DEMENTO can't recall if they reused things but did confirm their portfolios' and gave dates between 2001-2004 for having either been involved in Clock Tower 3, DEMENTO/Haunting Ground and Resident Evil 4 all within overlapping planning and development timeframes. So reuse wouldn't surprise me specifically due to that but finding older style textures in DEMENTO has made me particularly curious about the earlier builds of RE4.
