Capcom, showing that they are still port happy with the Resident Evil series, seems to be releasing a updated version of RE0 on the Wii with some added features. Still a weird choice, though, since a RE0/REmake combo would be nice...

they should make a remake with the resident evil 4 engine, or use the material in the ealry umbrella chronicles which was using the re4 engine and game-style

I think it's going to be a point n click adventure game , considering u can play it single-handedly.

Well, it obviously couldn't be in 1st or even 3rd person since all the backgrounds are prerendered, so what could it be besides a point-and-click deal?

I have always been a fan of the resi evil series but this is becoming a joke!

I could understand if they remade all the games with the resi 4 engine (Infact that would be awesome) but to port them again from one system to the other is a step too far.

Like I wrote over on THIA about this.
It seems like quite a lot of people simply weren't around (and/or into gaming) back in 96~98, the magical time period when Capcom re-released the same game (with some minor changes between each release) on the very same platform 3 times. Not to mention that the second Resident Evil game also got ported to every single platform in the universe + also received a double release on the same platform in the form of a regular release and a following "Dual Shock" version.

So how on earth is this any in different from back then?

Infact, this is a port from one platform to another, of a nearly 6 year old game (not a 6 month or 1 year old) that has currently been exclusive to one platform (not ported to every single platform) and only had one re-release in the form of a "Platinum/Greatest Hits" version (with no additional alterations).

Saying that it's easy to get for GC and play on Wii is also a bit of a shitty excusy to justify bitching, as not every Wii owner had a GC and getting this game + a GC controller can quickly become a $40++ business affair (unless you go second hand or third party for your game and controller needs)

I wasn't bitching as such, more having a mini moan.

I understand that people didn't have a playstation all that time ago nor maybe even a gamcube and for that fact then yes, it makes sense to port them the the latest gen console. Taking that into account I feel that Capcom are slightly misleading any new (People who haven't played the resi games before) gamer into buying something that is essentially (as you said) a 6 year + old game. Basically they are making good money for old rope.

If they decided to bundle all the games together and release as one game then I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it or as I said above, if they re-made the games with the resi 4 engine then they could justify selling them as an individual game.

Yeah, Final Fantasy  The thing is though that Final Fantasy just gets worse where as Bio Hazard has remaind pretty decent throughout it's life.

Indeed. How many remakes of the original Final Fantasy are we up to now?

Probably the main benefit of rereleasing it on the Wii is it gets more exposure that way. A lot of good games on the Gamecube got ignored for the simple fact that they were on the Gamecube instead of PS2 or Xbox, or perhaps because they were eclipsed by bigger-name games like GTA or Halo.

You raise a very good point. Most people ignored anything on the GC that wasn't made by Nintendo.

    Brilliant.

Because, you know, the Wii isn't selling anywhere else.

Did Sega's old management move into Capcom recently?

That's a bizarre move by Capcom (Restricting the release to Japan) given that they've been focusing more on the western market recently.

I think due to the odd nature of the port, the publication process would be costly and unwaranted in the west. it wil depend on demand, and again I only see this released in the US, if at all.
