http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...e-release-on-pc-ps3-ps4-xbox-360-and-xbox-one Damnit capcom, take my money now
Looks very good and I do love the first RE. But, you know, I have it on Saturn, PS, and GC. And a digital-only launch. If it stays that Capcom won't be getting my cash for RE for a fourth time.
I dont mind a digital only release, costs alot less to produce and is less risky for them (seeing as they are bleeding money) I'm curious about the pre-rendered backgrounds, whether they are just going to be touched up. or if the original source material for the backgrounds was in a higher res.....still, playing this in 1080p is going to be awesome
Meh..... typical Capcom. They have already remade RE1, they know their fanbase wants a remake of RE2, so what do they do? Remake RE1, AGAIN. On a side note, hello post 1,100 ......... lol
Maybe they are testing the waters, if this sells well then they could decide to do 2/3 (imo if they remake 2 they should do 3 aswell) kinda strange there is no Wii-U release though
You know, it's going to be funny that whatever modding community RE6 had is just going to jump over to the PC version of this (myself included) if only for the sheer sake of making it easier than fishing out a copy of REmake or the Archives version and then having to get the GameCube or the Wii or the Wii U set up because a LOT of our RE collection is in storage (too much stuff floating around the house when I am tripping over shitty RE film standees) and I only currently have my old laptop in Australia so I can't exactly emulate it from either release on it in contrast to my better computer back in the US. And judging from prior marketing materials and the like, I'm pretty sure the original source renders were in a higher resolution as it appears that they're using the nice high res textures for Chris that they had previously used on the larger scale marketing (posters and the like) whereas the guidebooks were using the in-game, lower-res textures. I don't mind paying for a game that I particularly love again if it makes it easier for me to access out of sheer laziness. Now, if they brought CODE: Veronica to PC then I'd be pretty damn happy (I'd say Demento as well but I doubt that'd ever happen).
I think they're just blowing up the REmake backgrounds to 1080p and applying a sharpening filter. :/ The PS3 version is getting a physical release in Japan.
When the rumour came up yesterday I thought it was false. Today I was surprised when I saw the news. I was also surprised for the lack of a WiiU version. I think RE: Revelations didn't sell that well in the end. I think I will import the PS3 version because we aren't going to get a physical release here even for the PS4 and Xbone. I hope this makes them remake the second game. Not just a remaster but a properly remake.
I've heard in the past that Capcom kept all of their high resolution source material for REmake, so it's probably safe to assume they're using these files to create this new remastered edition (by contrast, something mostly polygonal like Code: Veronica would be easy to update by simply raising model detail and generating* fresh textures). However, it's too bad they never thought to preserve the original textures and higher quality videos for the original trilogy - despite being high on the wanted lists of many fans, I sure wouldn't suggest anyone holds their breath for RE2 to get the same treatment in a hurry. We're talking about a company that's intent on issuing products that print as much money as possible while requiring the least amount of effort... if only they'd hire Team I.G.A.S. to produce a special edition of 2 containing new backgrounds made to their artist's brilliant standard plus a fully sanctioned complete 1.5 using whatever official assets still exist from the last known prototype build! *Now that I think about it, didn't Nextech "borrow" a lot from sample libraries? I'm fairly sure a more educated series enthusiast once confirmed that many elements were recognised as being SoftImage defaults.
I don't know how I feel about this. Capcom has no problem with continuing to re-release old RE yet they won't give us a RE in the vein of RE 1-C:V. If the price is right I'm likely to get it, but it just shows Capcom's glory days are behind them IMO.
Since you can supposedly control the camera I doubt they can really use the old style pre-rendered backgrounds. Otherwise I'm actually excited. I never got the GC or Wii versions, so this'll be a good way to get in.
I can't see why Capcom would want to do this? It's just a slight touchup on the original. Why remake a game twice ??!!!! If you would like to see a Resident Evil 2 remake this guy is doing that with the UDK.
What is worst? Remake of the remake or digital only. (PS-only-japan-only don't counts) They should go for cellphone version only and go bankrupt already.
It actually looks very nice, and this is coming from someone who hasn't played RE before. Quite interested.
The RE remake for the Gamecube is my favorite in the series, so I'll probably buy this. Perhaps not very different from the Gamecube version (which I already have), but it'll be cool to play the game in 1080p and with improved textures, etc. I think the scrolling widescreen effect looks pretty cool - I'm interested to see what it looks like in-game. I'll add it to the list of PC games I want, along with GTAV (supposedly coming out this year) and Oddworld New N' Tasty. I've actually been wanting to do a playthrough of this game for a while - and the rerelease is supposed to come out in early 2015, so I'll probably end up playing the Gamecube version before then. I had the idea that I should play it around Halloween.
720p for 360 and PS3 releases eh? Not sure I'll be able to tell the difference but I sure as hell can't afford a XBox One right now to find out. Better off putting that cash towards a new TV.
