Hi! This is a thread where I'll link my YouTube releases. It's not all strictly console related, but it's all gaming, all retro, all awesome! Every couple of weeks I'll do an episode about something in my collection, or something I've newly acquired. This morning I uploaded my 16th episode, covering my IBM PC 5150. My back catalogue can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/RetroSwim Enjoy!
Episode 17 is Live!! In this episode, I take a look at the technology that will drive my custom built solid-state AV switch box, and make sure it works the way I think it works!
Episode 18 - Covering the construction and operation of my RGB SCART switch box. It's finally done!!!
April Update is Live. Pretty PO'ed about the lack of a power adaptor... Ah well, shit happens hey?
Episode 19 is up! A game from my past, Math Ace. From what I can tell, this game isn't covered anywhere else on the Internet. So, yay, first!
Episode 20 is LIVE!! The built-in game from a dead Master System II lives on after being transplanted into a Master System I!
That mod was magnificent - was sad that when I bought a cart of Alex Kidd in Miracle World and found it had the buttons mixed up vs the SMS2 version I grew up playing. So now I have two options - get a new ROM for the existing cart (repro), get a BIOS from a SMS2 or fit a DPDT switch to an SMS controller (or just make a dedicated Alex Kidd controller and swap the buttons around with a pad hack ). ... might just go for the latter. I've probably got a spare controller around the place that'd work
Episode 21 is LIVE! In this episode, I show off a bit of my stuff from Japan! Enjoy!
Interesting stuff! You just convinced me to never get a NEO GEO CD, I hate loading xD I was more aiming toward the MVS anyway. I like the music in wolf3d on the 3do! Is there a CD PC version using the same tracks? Im wonderinng, can you read japanese? Cuz you bought quite a bunch of japanese RPG and stuff that I would not know what to do with because of language barrier.
I have an MVS too, but the NGCD was quite cheap, and also complete-in-box, so I thought "why not?" Also, it's "free" to "try out" games for it, without the need for emulators. I don't think there's a PC version of Wolf3D with CD audio. The 3DO version seems to be a port of the Macintosh version of Wolf3D from MacPlay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4iwpcgZpgI I'm in the process of learning Japanese. I figured the Final Fantasy games might be good motivation, and also be a good tool for helping me memorise the kana alphabets.
Man, put all those motherboard in a wood chest, bury it somewhere. Mark the spot with a stone pattern then publish the GPS coordinates on the internet.
Excellent series very interesting, thanks. Especially liked the vid on the 5150, love hearing about vintage PCs. I especially like the fact you have a tripod! this is where most vintage PC You-tubers fall short!
Yeah I really like RetroSwim's videos. I find them kind of soothing to watch, and very informative too of course!
