Got this pretty yellow pal snes last week and man it was not looking good.
Here is a pic from the auction.

When I got it and did a little test just on the front panel, only used a little bit of 3% hydrogen peroxide.

    Before.

    After.

    Success!!

Now I went to my local walmart and bought 8 bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide, only 88 cents a piece. Also I never added anything to the hydrogen peroxide.

    Started early in the morning.

I filled it up with all 8 bottles and left it there till around 8pm.

    The results.

Did you do something to prevent the stickers from fading?

The bottom stickers on the console are fine but some stickers can fade,I guess you could add some painters tape to prevent fading.

Yup,just 3% and nothing else added to it.

That's absolutely amazing... The results appear to be flawless!

Hydrogen Peroxide 3% is now on the top of my list :D

Ehh I don't know about that PSX, it looks like the text on the buttons faded big time.

I'd have to agree. "Power" looks okay (if a bit different), but that bright white "open" used to be blue...

Ah yes I see, oh well, time to experiment I guess. Getting my SNES white again has always been a dream of mine. Could never be arsed with the whole retr0brite thingy, but if I can do it with only 3% hydrogen peroxide then I'll be delighted!

    tomorrow :D

I'm hoping to try this with an Indigo/Clear GCN controller, since the clear back of that got yellowed big-time.

Good eye, didn't noticed it,its mainly just the open button that faded.

But it does look a lot better than it did before.

3% is easy to find, it's used for cleaning, used for dying hair etc.

a haidressers or chemist may have it, it's like £7 for a big bottle on amazon anyway.

I'm gonna have to do this to my Super Famicom. I've been going back and forth on it for a while now, mainly cause I don't want the bleached parts to look a lot whiter than the rest, but I'm starting to think it won't be as bad as part gray part ugly yellowed.

Does anyone know if you can reuse the hydrogen peroxide after using it?

Not really, hydrogen peroxide will start decomposing into water and oxygen gas after being exposed to sunlight for a while.

To the OP, do you care to share which Peroxide brand from Wally world did you use? and did you expose the whole thing to the sun or UV light at all?
    Thanks!
