I have a front loader NES, and where the bottom half of the NES is usually that dark grey colour this NES has turn a light browny grey colour, do you think using Peroxide on this would restore the colour?

Would be be ok to say get 10% Hydrogen Peroxide and then add 5 litres of HP and then 5 litres of water to a 1 0litre washing up bowl for instance, to make 5% strength HP?

The stuff gets expensive when you have to end up buying 4 bottles of the stuff it stronger grade HP could be bought and the diluted it would be ideal

So my JPN HVC-101 NES turned up today, the pads are fairly yellowed.....

and the system itself is stained....

I got some 35% strength Hydrogen Peroxide in preparation....

I take it that if i add 1 litre of HP to 7 litres of water ill get a 5% HP mixture??

Will HP remove the stained areas on the system shell??

So i stuck my dog bone pad in 10% Hydrogen Peroxide solution this morning before going to work (about 7:30am)......

It wasnt a 100% sunny day, was some cloud cover about but was rather hot 28c, and this was the result after about 10 hours outside....

    Rather happy with the results!!

So if straight peroxyde works, why are we bothering with the retrobright recipee that has gel, Oxy clean and whats not ?

    I would say :
    - Xanthan gum+Glycine make a "foam" in order to stick to the plastic and use less peroxyde,
    - Oxyclean increase the concentration of hydrogen peroxyde,

Those are when you are using small bottle of 12%. In a bath of 35% there're meaningless.

Is it possible that the examples we are seeing here are just smoke-stained - not truly yellowed?

Plain hydrogen peroxide would certainly remove smoke stains effectively, cigarette smoke leaves an oily film on things which peroxide would emulsify and release from the plastic.

I have a truly horrible yellowed early (SHVC) SNES that I should try this on.

Painters tape will not work. I learned the hard way a few years ago. Clear packing tape works.
