Rumored that revolution will have 512mb of flash ram, and can emu famicom, superfamicom, n64, and play gamecube games. It has many aspects of the game copy devices nintendo has tried to squash for years. Mind you these aren't 100% confirmed, but it sure is interesting to think that there maybe ba a console that works with every game over five generations of hardware.
Yes they are. Iwata himself said it during the press conference which is being streamed at Gamespot. The question is, will it produce a true low-res signal so these games won't look like shit.
This is cool but won't be a big selling point. I mean everybody is praising the new technology leap that the Xbox360 and the PS3 are making, not only in graphics departament but the Online network and stuff like that. What nintendo does? Release another GBA (the 4th version if you include the DS) and still want to be on top using their NES / SNES history. I know this is very cool, but people can do that using emulators on the PC. Or even buy a real NES / SNES for some bucks. Anyway, i won't judge it till i see some videos of the games being developed for it.
They almost have to show the games, don't they? Otherwise it's just a plastic box, it won't mean anything. That'd be a STUPID move on their part.
One of the new GameCube games: Super Mario Strikers Nintendo is really lacking in originality. After Tennis and Golf, now it's time for Soccer. [joking]Be ready for Mario Rugby and Mario Olympics on the Next Generation[/joking]
Shit, they can make "Mario Anal Fisting 2006" as long as they also make a whupass new Mario platformer for Revolution....
You might be waiting awhile for a new Mario platformer. The DS has gotten a rehash of a nearly 10 year old N64 game whilst the GC was the recipient of the rather odd Mario Sunshine with nothing else on the horizon...
You're talking to someone who really really liked Mario Sunshine. I mean, it wasn't SM64 of course, but it was still reeeaaalllly damned good IMO. I'd just be floored if there wasn't a proper sequel to Sunshine on the Revolution within 1 year of it's release.
I think that people will want all the power of the 360 and the ps3. However, there are still people hooking systems to their television with an RF adapter, and I think revolution will cater nicely to those causal types. Face it, if it can be cheap, play every nintendo game ever made, and under $150 it'll sell very well compared to the $400 fatpig designs of the 360 and ps3.
i think we should wait before judging the revolution, we haven't seen anything yet, and remember that it will be the last next-gen console to be released, without any hard drive (so far) and also consider that the gamecube was 300 bucks cheaper than the xbox at its release (they were released by a couple of days of difference) and that the game cube stood beside the xbox graphics pretty well (Biohazard 4 one of the best looking game of this gen, if it's not the best, and RE 0 is still pretty damn impressive.) As for that RF thing, 3rd parties always release RF adapter for every consoles, so the argument doesn't stand very well. Still, i just hope nintendo will show more things before the end of the E3, that would be very stupid not to, but you never know. And who said the Revolution wasn't powerfull anyway? It seems to be everywhere, but does anyone heard about the specs or saw anything that could mesure the power of the beast? i say wait and see. cahaz
Eh, I don't know who this whole emulation thing is appealing to...the more serious gamers are going to have piles of N64, Cube, SNES, and NES games already...and I would think the average schmoe would just want fancy new games. I dunno...I'm sitting on Hundreds of old Nintendo games...so...I don't know what to make of this... Hey wait? Does this make my originals less valuable?:angry
Let's say you log onto nintendo via the lan, and they offer you duckhunt permanently on your memory card in revolution for FIVE CENTS. Would you get? Just for shits and giggles? How about excitebike? and maybe dig dug. Five cents sounds like crap, but it is pure profit with no media manufacturing. I think nintendo has a winner. they can have downloads or free content online like sega channel. Pay $19.99 a month, play as many nintendo, snes, n64 games as you want. You could theoretically buy the revolution and never buy a single game. Let's face it, the rehash argument is over, nearly 20 years of gameboy have proven that to be false, and the brisk sales of the retro gba carts proves it.
True. Its the casual gamer that keeps rebuying this stuff over and over again, not the hardcore players who are the ones bitching about the rehashing. If any of these consoles can cheaply fill the void in my life where a woman should be, then I'll be buying that console. Unless of course I hook up with somebody.
Well, we'll see what happens. That's only part of the revolution...we haven't even seen games for it yet! And the controller, ooooooh! I really hope they show us something at E3...
Raise The Jolly Roger - Nintendos Back! My Prediction. Nintendo 31% Sony 42% Microsoft 28% Then MS Will Come In With Xbox Media Center, and it will just be Microsofts own Media Center PC. And Sega Will return. Next Next Gen: Nintendo 37% Sony 28% SEGA 20% Microsoft 10% Then MS Will Drop The Xbox Name and have the Blackcomb Media Center. Nintendo 33% Sony 30% Sega 35% Microsoft 1%
Do you really think Sega will come back? They're not exactly the Sega they once were. Sure, they still do Arcade hardware...but they've always been good at that...
Arcade hardware that is based on the DC. Don't get me wrong Atomiswave is cool, specially games like Dolphin Blue and Demolish Fist. I hope Nintendo comes with new games, and put all theis classics back, and make the Revolution a succesful console (even if it's not the most powerful). Just stop doing all kinds of games with the Mario name just to have people's attention. Mario Kart is a classic but i don't get why Mario Tennis and all those sports games. Because it's getting lame...
