My favorite game on dc, major apocalypse. Many people thought that is a bullsh*t game but to me is one of the greatests. I didn't liked the ps2 edition but the dc ownzzzzz A must game. ps: My first post here, so hallo to everyone. I think that assembler is like a bible to every gamer. :ayashi :-D
Is it really worth getting the old Vibrator to go with this? Been thinking about it for a while but didn`t know who had one adn if it was any good!
I don't know about the PS2 version but on the Dreamcast the vibrator pack really makesa difference and thats only controling the pad. Yakumo
For collecting purposes you should go for the Dreamcast version, however for the complete package the best version is the PS2 one... at least when you have the rez vibrator with it. The DualShock2 controller gives an blast, and the vibra gives just the twist it needs..... Its pretty neat to have you whole coach rumbling while playing this game.
Just to make sure, there is a seperate device that plugs into the PS2 made specifically to vibrate while playing rez? Or it just uses the dualshock?
The Rez Trance Vibrator is specifically made to vibrate while playing Rez, thats correct. You connect it on the Ps2 USB connection. So you'll end up with an rumbling joypad and the rez vibra.
Well, I am a "Rez-fan" ! This game is amazing, incredible, dedicaced to Wassily Kandinsky. What is your scores at Rez (or Ranking, 100% of Shot-Down in the last level ...) ? See you.
Question: Did the video for the Rez sequel for Gamecube that was to be shown off at an E3, but which was pulled at the last minute, ever end up getting leaked/released on the net?
From what I've heard some time ago, Rez 2 has never been under development for GameCube, whatever Jake Kazdal might have been saying. I once thought Rez 2 existed, but apparantly a Gamespot journalist without any knowledge of Japanese once misinterpreted (or mistranslated) a Japanese comment from Mizuguchi at a party, and thought Mizuguchi made a comment about Rez 2. Since then all sorts of rumors started, but I can assure you, Rez 2 never was (not even pre-production).
"After Rez, Kazdal moved onto a GameCube project, which lasted over a year. Meanwhile, a sequel to Rez was actually being developed for a while – Kazdal comments: "Man, it looked cool, but never made it". But the GameCube project was eventually cancelled, so Jake moved onto the PlayStation 2 Astro Boy game right before leaving UGA, which was shortly before it was merged into Sonic Team and Mizuguchi himself parted ways with Sega." I don't see why you think his statement isn't credible. Even if a statement was mistranslated from Mizuguchi, it doesn't really have to do with what Jake Kazdal said. And I do feel that Gamasutra is a reliable source for such things.
Now there was a project in development at Lionhead studios which looked vaguely similar to Rez, called Unity. It was a Gamecube only title and was canceled about a year ago. Here's an article about it: http://www.gamepro.com/nintendo/gamecube/games/news/40211.shtml Some screens here: http://www.planetgamecube.com/media.cfm?action=shot&id=909&seq=3
Man, Unity would have been so much more than Rez. I can only dream of how amazing it owuld have been. Broke my heart when I heard it was cancelled, but Jeff Minter was developing it almost entirely by himself, which is unheard of on a modern system, so I guess it's not too surprising. Many of the techniques he worked on for Unity will be used in the light machine he created for the Xbox360, but minus all the gameplay elements, of course. My only hope is that his ambition will get the better of him and he'll rework the project for another platform. Possibly PC since his development time wouldn't matter there and he could probably handle the publishing more easily. I don't care, I just want to play a game that's everything Unity promised to be. About Rez and the Trance Vibrator, it's totally separate from the vibration of the dual shock, it vibrates to different beats, or at least that's my understanding. I've never used one. Sounds cool, though. It could only enhance the game, that's for sure. By the way, people who dig the style of Rez, might also like Internal Section, N2O or Lattice, all of which were released on the Playstation. ...word is bondage...
Yes, there were designs for a possible successor, made before the original game was released, but they never actually started development (not even pre-production) on a sequel. Jake was talking about those designs, but you couldn't possibly say the game was under development. "Man, it looked cool, but never made it." His comments are just a bit vague, mixing the GameCube project he was working on up with whatever UGA was doing. But trust me, Rez 2 never was.
Revolver was distributing those about a year ago and a friend of mine bought them. He offered me MP3s, but I didn't want them at the time. Maybe I should get them now, though, because I've since gotten into the MP3 thing with a portable player and all. Anyone else interested. I doubt they're as cool as the minidisc I made of myself playing the game. I re-recorded each level over and over until I had the best version I could get. It was pretty sweet. Unfortunately, I recorded over that a feew months ago. I'll have to do it again sometime. Been a while since I've played Rez regularly, though, so I doubt my "mix" would be as good as it was then. ...word is bondage...
remember reading about this game on wikipedia a month ago seems like kind of cool game (oh and btw.. for an intresting articel on the 'real' usage of the trance vibrator that came with the game, google for "trance vibrator" and click on the link that points to a gamegirladvance articel ^^ (might not be fully work safe))
