I just got a dreamcast and played Rez and man this has to be one of the best games I have ever played. The music combined with the enemies that you hit making a beat is really nice. And the boss scenes along with the regular enemies have a real nice cell shading design look. I was thinking that this game would be popular, but many of the people that I know play games, never even heard of it. So is anyone else a fan of this game? Here is a picture of it
Fantastic game. One of my favorites for sure. Can play it for hours. Even my GF likes this one (and no, I'm not talking about the PS2 version )
I have yet to play it. It's too damn expensive, and I really don't feel like paying that much for a game. Maybe I'll get lucky and find it at the flea market.
The Japanese version shouldn't be that expensive and the PAL version has a really nasty batch that won't load half the time. I use the Buru Buru pack with my Dreamcast version for that extra added atmosphere. The Japanese version is also fully in English too so no worries about Japanese text. Yakumo
I'll look into that, then. I don't mind getting a Japanese copy for either system. My birthday is coming up, too, so I may not have to pay for it at all ^_^.
Yep it was released here. though im not a fan of the game for whatever reason. I could never get into it, and it just didnt feel like you needed any skill.
It was released on the PS2, not the DC and its pretty hard to find now. I should ahve bought it back when it was available for $30 new.
A few weeks back, Play-Asia had the Japanese PS2 edition for $9.99 or something on one of their weekly deals; not sure what it's sitting at now, though.
I got the game on the Dreamcast (absolutly stunning with the vgabox!) , and also the PS2 version with the trance vibrator.. that is really wack.. your whole couch will rock!
I'm still dying to play this game. I passed up all versions at one time or another, just never had funds when they where readily available. ^_^_^
Sort of like a good number of the US 'Ooga Booga' games out their (another awsome game). Wern't quite a few first run Jap Sonic Adventure discs that didn't work also? I remember hearing about them using a different form of copy protection then what the final retail DC units ended up with.
its odd that its on sonic teams site, but is this is due to the differnt development groups forming back to the same whole and having teams combine.
To beat the game doesn't require any skill really, no. Maybe stage 5 requires a bit, but not much unless you're trying for all 100%. Hell, the existence of travelling mode or transmission where you take no damage ought to prove that that's not the point of the game. As with any good game, the real goal in Rez is not "winning" the game at all. Like everyone always says, Rez is a game all about rhythm. It didn't turn out to be anything like a DDR rhythm game as it was sometimes described prior to its release, but it's still about rhythm, just in a different way. I've always found that with some very well made and special games, I can get into a very deep rhythm when playing them, a rhythm that doesn't have to do with music or anything like that, but just timing and harmony with the game. There's a short list of games that I think can really create that sense of rhythm or harmony. Pac-man, Super Mario Bros., Tetris, Sega Rally, Chu Cu Rocket, Shikigami No Shiro 2...actually, the list could go on and on, but those are my favorites. Rez is the same way, except that it's even better because the game was designed to create that rhythm instead of it just being a side-effect. It's keeping that rhythm that requires skill. To make your timing perfect, to keep the game flowing like it's a movie, the ever-sought immaculate run. Man, it's just exhilirating. Really, it's what I always think video games are all about. ...word is bondage...
