My Death Premonitions aren't quite as accurate. Usually it's a very broad sense of doom then something happens and I'm like OOOOOOOOOOOH SO THAT'S WHAT IT WAS.
Aside from the Remix of I'm Afraid of Americans with Trent Reznor which isn't even ON the album. The album is pretty bad.... Speaking of Nine Inch Nails I've grown out of the Downward Spiral but the influence Bowie had on that album is oozing right around the second half and no Bowie, no that album. Lets not forget the Bowieesque amazingness of Mariyln Manson's Mechanical Animals ALSO influenced by Bowie. Smashing Pumpkins, Lots of Bowie there. And countless others. He's gone but his music lives on not just with his own music but the music of others.
So we should all listen to Low? I'm all for that. Mr. Reznor himself was heavily influenced by Low. A Warm Place from Downward Spiral was Bowie related if I'm not mistaken.
I want to say Bowie Performed Reptile with Trent on tour once or twice too. It's bugging me that Bowie's albums on vinyl are skyrocketing on Both Ebay and Amazon. Bowie was one of the reasons I got a turntable in the first place. Low is on average $50 Diamond Dogs is getting up there between Metal Gear Solid V and Bowie's passing. Sickening. Plenty of copies of Nothing has changed to go around.
It happens when any famous musician dies. Hell whichever record label jacked up the price of Whitney Houston's greatest hits CD 3x the day she died.
Can't say I was his biggest fan - only have one album (and it's a compilation) but I was still very saddened to hear he'd gone. Like a few posters here have alluded to, especially if you were an 80's child, Labyrinth will always be dear to me and DB was perfectly cast as the Goblin King. Loved the soundtrack too although I believe the man himself felt it wasn't his finest effort. It's hasn't hit me as hard as when Rik Mayall died (now he was my hero!) but I'll still miss Bowie. Legends never die, their star just dims a little...
