Nintendo in Japan and Nintendo of America have both confirmed production of the Wii U has ended. Time to grab that limited edition console while you still can!! http://www.ubergizmo.com/2017/02/wii-u-production-ended-globally/
Still unfortunately never got my hands on that Legend of Zelda Wii U Either way, I'd definitely recommend grabbing one. Strange thing is though the past 2 or 3 months I've seen many people complain that they're having a hard time finding Wii U consoles in stores. Anyone have any insight on this?
I'd also like to say congratulations to Nintendo for not only keeping the price high til the end, but I'm sure they actually pushed it UP at one point! Yeah... read the article lol
I did, there is nothing in there mentioning the console being harder to find in the past few months, it only states that stores will not have replenished stock once their current stock is gone.
Yep, the console is not rare by any means but to date it has sold less than 15 million units worldwide, surprisingly low for a Nintendo home console. At least getting a complete set is cheap and small(ish) right now!
Uhhh... New Premium pack from Nintendo (32Gb) - with Wind Waker, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon or Xenoblade Chronicles X - £249.99 New Switch base unit - £279.99 New 500Gb PlayStation 4 with game - £229.99 New 500Gb Xbox One with game - £229.99 New 500Gb Xbox One S with game - £249.99 The PlayStation 2 started life around £250 and the slim ended up sub-£100, I believe GAME sold them off for £50 brand new. And, whilst there was a vast catalogue, at the end of life there were a ton of cheap, new games. So, if you include consoles, it's going to be damn expensive! If you don't mind the Nintendo Selects games, they're kinda cheap I guess... but there are still games Nintendo sell on their Store at £50. There are still games Nintendo sell at £35 that have been re-released on Selects at £19.99. And some of those games are still £39.99 to download. Nintendo reeeallly need to sort that price fixing out. The digital download marketplace needs to reflect trends in physical software.
Really crazy. Can't believe the price never got below $300 where I live. Anyway, trash console. Overpriced and uncomfortable, not to mention ugly. Good riddance.
Damn, and I was hoping the Wii U would gamecube and go down a bunch at the end of it's life cycle. I don't think it will though. At least not too drastically.
Better get Devil's Third while it's still around! Too bad the Wii U never got cheaper. It's a neat little console with some pretty good games, most of 'em first-party Nintendo stuff.
I managed to pick up a Wind Waker premium bundle about 18 months ago at Argos for £179.99. Also got a £10 voucher for over £100 spend, put that towards Mario Kart, traded the bundled games for New Super Mario Bros. There are some good games on the system, but I would not have paid £250 plus for the system, then more on top for the games.
You got more stuff for the 300, when bundles displaced the basic set. No edition of the Wii U had a listed msrp under 300.
Easily my second favorite Nintendo console. I really liked the Wii U. It had some stupid things about it but it has a small but good library.
This is exactly the one I have. For some reason I enjoy the more standard editions of game consoles. When the price drops I'll sure get the standard one for my collection.
Strangely in US they pulled it off shelves around the holiday time. Only thing you'll see at retailers is the games. No systems and barely any accessories. They're really trying to start fresh.
