I have a pressed copy of the red star I found from acclaim. I need to rip it / copy it in my pc DVD drive. Anyone know how?
I'm not sure but have you checked xbox-scene.com? and if I'm not mistaken the rip of red star is already out now from what I heard... mate of mine claimed to have one though he hasn't given me the DVD-R copy yet...
1: Bung the disc in a modded Xbox, or a 'modded' Debug / Dev Kit (assuming it's retail patched). 2: FTP in and select the Xbox DVD drive. 3: Pull the data back to a folder on your P.C 4: Job done. ...Although as previously mentioned the gold ver of Red Star has been freely available on the net for a while now :smt023
if you don't have a dev/debug kit or a modded console, you can always softmod it if you have the right tools. doesn't require you to open the console.
I use dvd2xbox to copy to my Xbox's hard drive, but I don't know how to burn to a DVD from there (if that's what you're trying to do).
Once you have the files ftp'd from your Xbox back to your PC, use xISOmanager to generate an ISO that you can burn using Nero (or your favorite burner). xISOmanager: http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/~xbox/xbox-scene/tools/isotools/XisoManagerV1.5.1.rar If you don't like this one, there are other ISO tools as someone mentioned on xbox-scene.com under tools | xiso .j
You'll need a dashboard on your xbox too, inorder to give you the IP address of your xbox(so you can FTP onto it from your PC).....(in addition to the xbox being modded)... I don't use this particular tutorial myself but it looks ok: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/iso-backup-guide.php I do something similar and it works vast majority of the time...only newer games like GT4 look uncopyable(at the moment..unless it's been cracked already) Easiest thing is to send it to someone you trust and get them to rip it.
No you cant. You can flash the drive, but then it wont work as an xbox drive because Windows fails to have drivers for it. You can stick the Hitachi, or one of the other compatable drives that can be flashed, into the xbox and use it as stock.
Sorry, but that is simply incorrect, I have done, others have done it, it works fine. You dont really think that release groups rip games in an xbox do you?
Heinrich knows what he's talking about. I should hope so, anyway, as I believe he's one of the moderators on Xbox-Scene.
How come whenever people asked everyone always said it wasnt possible than? Do you have custom drivers that arent released?
I've heard rumours of it being done, but I haven't looked into it. The only thing I have to do with copied games are the ones I play from my hard drive.
"Everyone" says thats not possible because "everyone" doesnt know that it can be done. There is no need for 'custom drivers', its a modified firmware image + an app, "xbdvdread". There was also a modified xiso (by yursoft) that used this firmware to rip from xbox disc -> .iso. The drive continues to work fine as dvd-rom drive (and reads dvd-ram which is cool) after the firmware flash. http://www.google.com/search?q=gd-5000+kalisto
Thats really wierd. I stand corrected. I might have to invest in that. Does the 616T or whatever it is work also in the same way?
No, the hitachi gd-5000 is the only one. This a standard PC dvd drive, not an xbox dvd drive, which is what you seem to be thinking it is.
