    Ahh... Rockman. Capcom's finest hour

Lost me there............a game series supposed to be classic, tbh i cant stand it, cant get into it whatsoever.......for me, Zero & EXE games are the best version, cant stand the NES ones, some of the worst games i plsyed/,ost annoying.

Nice feature tho.............never played a GB one, might check it out *prepares to not be able to duck*

I had a Mega Man game on my gameboy that had 4 levels from 2 and 4 levels from 3, I sort of recall.
    This was long ago, though.
It was called Megaman 2 and it was a pretty cool conversion of the original NES ones.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't really care for the games either (other than, like you said, the Zero and X versions). It's very interesting to see these things, though. I'm always a sucker for alpha/beta/prototype stuff :).

Beta stuff is cool but Megaman/Rockman games are turd and too hard with bloody re-spawn that is enough to make you pull out your hair ! The only good Rockman game I think is good is Rockman X4

By the way, thanks for the link :)

Rockman rules. Thanks for the link.

  9. For real. How can so many of you guys hate the original Megaman series? That series was classic.

I'm willing to go up to Rockman 3 in saying the Rockman games kicked ass. I never really played 4-7 and I never cared for the X series. I did like Rockman Legends for the PSX but I seem to be in the minority there.

I had MM1 & 2 on the NES. They were great. I've also played through most of the original GB MM games. X on SFami was excellent too.

I have recently discovered all the original and X series have been rereleased on PSoneBooks for $24/£13 each. Reckon I'm gonna go for all the X series. I would however love a copy of X4 for the Saturn with the Ltd. MM model kit (unmade, so i can fiddle).

Rockman ... well... Rocks. I mean, it's RIGHT on the name!

The NES ones are classic platform gaming at its best.... but 5 and 6 were just overdoing it.
7 was... let's say decent, but lacked a certain something. 8 was really cool, I really like it a lot.
X1 to X3 were truly an evolution in the franchise and the Genre. X4 was transitional but still very good, only not as good as the original X. X5 was the best 32 bit one, but really, there's no comparison to the original 3 Rockman X games.

    X7 sucks ass, and X8 I haven't played.
The Zero series, I've heard it's great but I don't have a GBA. When I get a DS, I'm gonna give that one a try.

Is the proto on the link the same game I used to have on my GB?

Phew... I was worried too when I started reading this post. Full of blue bomber hate. I loved the originals and thought they were leagues above almost everything else on the NES. I think the music still rocks to this day.

Serious? I love 7 but only sort of like 8. Gameplay in 8 is nice but the enemies are just plain retarded and stages like Clownman's are hideous to me. I also don't like the fact that you can't purchase everything in the game and you have to make choices. As far as X goes, I like X1 & 2 and can stand 3 although I hate the bosses and the music. X4 would be OK without the FMV, bad story, they shouldn't have included a story. X5 I've only played for a few minutes and was turned off immediately by the amount of instruction you get on how to play the game. X6 I played for about a half hour and I thought it was better than 5 due to the numerous cool suits you get.

Clown Man does in fact shock the player at first because it feels as if you're playing a 32 bit version of Rescue Rangers or Talespin or one of those Disney games Capcom used to make. The music becomes infectious after a while, though. The voices in the american version are, however, TERRIBLE. Rockman sounds like a prepubescent girl.

The music in X and X2 is very superior to the rest of the series, in my opinion.
And yes, the X4 FMV was horrible.

    I still like 8 a lot, though.
X5 gets quite intense after the "instructions" - it's quite better than X4. X6 I like but I haven't finished it so I can't say. I think, so far, X5 is much better.

I think X & X2 music is great, just not most of X3's soundtrack (which hurts my soul) and yes it's infectious. Also I mean't that I don't like X3's bosses, that game can be difficult! ;) Maybe I'll give it another shot soon, I still haven't done everything in that game.

Yeah, the bosses have been gradually increased in cheapness after X3. The bosses all the X series afterwards are cheap in varying factors, so yeah, you're right there.
And yes, the music in X especially is a classic - but also in MegaMan 2. That's Nes synth at its best.

X5 is good? I saw that the game supposedly ran on a timer (that's what I assumed from reading the jewel case backing), and decided to not buy it. Maybe I'll go pick it up today ($5).

    seconded!
hardly anything comes close to rockman in terms of music.
well, kirbys adventure and the ninja gaiden series maybe but thats it imho.

gotta love these synthie-guitars that were introduced with x on the snes, too.
plus, im a nutter for the opening stage songs in x-x3, i could listen to them all day long. ;)

    Very well worth it, sir.
Not precisely a timer, but it does count one "entry" to one of th emaverick's stages as an hour and you have 14 I think, to finish the game entirely.

The Japanese version, which is what I've played, has a superior intro with a great song called "Monkey" - but I don't know if it's any different from the american version in terms of gameplay, so expect that limitation. Not really a factor, though.
