Here are some crystal clear pics of the prototype game that someone owns. Maybe its 100% complete cos you can see part of the ending at the bottom. http://www.geocities.co.jp/HeartLand-Suzuran/9038/pce_nfs22.html
Wow! Why on earth dd they end up making the arcade STV rather than Model 2? The only reason I can think of would be cost to the arcade owner. It does look much nicer as a Model 2 gsme though. Yakumo
It's pretty amazing how far ahead the Model 2 was compared to the consoles of its day. The same could be said of the Model 3. Scud Race looks better than most Xbox games, in my opinion.
Jour J by Loriciel for CDi It looks very similar to Sherman M4, developed by Loriciel too. http://www.mobygames.com/game/sherman-m4 By the way, the title means "D Day".
Indeed. I didn't know Sherman M4 had a sequel. Back in the day, changing the name of a game for a sequel was a fashion in France (remember Mortville Manor and Maupiti Island, Another world/Out of this world and Heart of the alien, Flashback and Fade to black...) Talking about PC Cocoron, it's a remake of a famicom game: Cocoron. A sequel (or sort of) was planned on Mega-CD: Pop'n Land (also called Pop'n world). A music of this last one even has been included in the CD "Super Mega Drive Fan - Mega-CD Super Music Collection Vol.1." I don't know what happened to the developer Sur de Wave. Edit: Its last PC98 game has been released in july 30 1993, according to this page: http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/screen/G3564.html
Are you sure it was a remake. I remember that it was to be a brand new episode. Pop'n Land article on Unseen64 is already scheduled ( BTW do you have that CD ? )
No, I don't. I've searched on Galbadia but there's nothing. On the same CD are some tracks of Super Brandish and Y's 4. I don't know if these tracks are rearranged. http://vgmdb.net/album/7988 The curious thing is the release date of this CD (june 25, 1993): according to Beep! Mega Drive (probably in one of the issues shown on Gamescollection) Pop n' land was planned for October 1992. Sur De Wave has released only one game on a Sega console: Nostalgia 1907, which is a port of a computer game (X68000 and PC98). Most of its games was developed for computers, he hasn't released any game on Super CD-ROM and the original Cocoron has been published by Takeru (in may 1991). I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bankruptcy somewhere. Long time ago, I've read in a an old french magazine Cocoron was a remake, not a simple port. But, maybe it was a brand new game (as for the Popful Mail games which are often considered as remakes). By the way, if you ask, the article you've posted only describes the game itself. I'll search in other magazines I have. Talking about Lunar (on page 4), somes pictures of the unreleased Silver Star sequel (taken from Lunar I-II Kōshiki Settei Shiryōshū: http://www.jap-sai.com/Games/Lunar/Lunar_I-II_Artbook_01_A.jpg ): I like Toshiyuki Kubooka's works.
I've checked my old magazines but the only article I've found about PC Cocoron is the one Celine has posted, which is taken from the january 94 issue of Console +' (same date as the first japanese article SuperPlay has posted).
It seems the Goodbye soft catalogue contains some informations about Pop n' Land: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7561 Unfortunately, the links are dead.... According to GDRI, the game was developed by Takeru http://gdri.smspower.org/wiki/index.php/Takeru On the same page: "Many employees left for Mitchell after the company became financially unstable"
Pop 'n Land was never released. That I know there are two screenshots available. Article is scheduled for next September.
