I was doing a clear out the other day and I found a copy of Age Of Mythology+Titans expansion, iirc I bought it at a sale years ago for about £2 and never played it.

So I was at a loose end last night and decided to give it a try...needless to say I'm loving my first rts experience but the wife tends to have a monopoly on using the pc most days:dammit: so I was just wondering if there's anything as good or better on the xbox 360?

Can't say for 360 but if you've got a PS2 hooked up you need to check out Grim Grimoire. It's by the same people who did Odin Sphere (if that means anything to you) and the art direction is very similar. Sadly underrated game, just seemed to drift under the radar.

How about the 360 South Park games on the market place? Or is that more of a tower deffending game?

South Park is tower defense. I actually enjoyed the bits of Halo Wars and Command and Conquer on the 360. They aren't ideal, PC's still are better, but they are still a lot of fun, especially playing with friends online / LAN.

The C&C titles on the 360 are worth playing although nowhere near as good as on PC :)

You've got these games to pick from if you want RTS on the 360:

    Universe at War
    Warhammer: Battle March
    Halo Wars
    Tom Clancy's Endwar
    Stormrise

Of those games, only Endwar and Stormrise qualify as attempts to adapt RTS to a console controller format. Each developer tried to do something new that made it worthwhile, and depending on what critic you ask it was either annoying or a good first attempt. Incidentally, Endwar used some of the development talent that also worked on the Total War RTS series.

I strongly recommend having an HD screen if you plan to try any of those games. The amount of text and other data on the screen is not SD friendly. The Warhammer game is especially unreadable. Hope that gets you started.

Is it easy to plug in a mouse on the 360?

Mouse wouldn't work on 360, at least not without some 3rd party devices.

There's an adapter somewhere (the name escapes me at the moment) but it lets you map a keyboard and mouse to the buttons and analog input of the 360 pad. It requires a lot of setup though, and you can't use the actual keyboard input for text entry on the rare occasions that it comes up in those games.

Red Alert 3 was pretty cool, and I got it for 69 pesos (which is a bit less than 5 dollars). Greatly recommended, if only for the awesome cutscenes and cold-war humour.

I think Halo Wars is probably your best bet. Apparently the cutscenes are pretty dang cool?

I've run through the first level on my Halo Wars (it got sucked into the black hole that is my backlog unfortunately) and it's pretty smooth to control, I wouldn't put it over a mouse but it's hardly unpleasant.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'm gonna have to check some of these out...possibly get a few in the January sales xD.

I feel drawn to warhammer for some reason...would look good in 50" HD glory

I would avoid Warhammer and Stormrise, pretty crappy stuff. I heard that Halo Wars and Red Alert 3 are great games.
