VG247 has learnt that Sony it to hold a “business overview and strategy meetingâ€￾ in Tokyo on January 27, and has been told that Sony will use the event as a reveal platform for PSP2.

Nothing is known of the meeting’s content, but we do know that only “very select pressâ€￾ are attending.

Sources have said this morning that PSP2 will be announced at the showcase.

Sony has declined to comment on the chatter this morning.

The console, which is currently under wraps, is expected to be released later this year.

Going by the codename VITA, PSP2 has been in the hands of developers for at least a year. VG247 published the first images of a development kit last November.

Netherrealm Studios and EA have openly said they’ve been working with the machine.

Quite content with my PSP at the moment and still pissed I got scammed not once, but twice with the 10 PSP go games. Sony can keep the PSP2 for all I care!

Probably another concept but I hope it's not the real thing. Using those Dual sticks would make it slip up out of my hands like a bar of soap.

So I'm curious now did they dump the back touchpad thing. At first I was disappointed, but then I grabbed my PSP and did notice it would be kind of hard to touch all parts of it. I'm curious how the 3G service will be over here. Probably shitty $30/month for 2GB AT&T only...

 

No they didn't. The JPN paper didn't list all of what's in there. Just that there is OLED, 3G & Touch but it does not make it fully clear.

Rest assured it's pretty much going to be both.

 

PSP2 concept? (why is there a touch pen if touch is underneath).

LoL that is soo off. They took the SE Phone and added PSP2 stuff to it. The Pen is simply a stylus you'd need if using resistive touch (DS). I'm pretty sure sony isn't going with old touch technology like that and will probably use capacitive touch like on iphones.

Also who in their right mind would still use stock SD or Memory Stick. They'd more likely go Micro SD or M2 (PSP go uses M2).

 

Ya, I thought it was kinda off.
